upgrading to kdelibs 3.3.2-4 kills konqueror:

workaround: downgrade to 3.3.2-3

It is working for me. Maybe something in your ~/.kde dir or in /tmp?

I first noticed it with akregator here, refusing to fetch feeds. A http kio slave or something? Downgrade fixed it.
Oh, right, he said that. Never mind,

Release 4 is working now - presumably the other updated kde packages have cured the problem.

I have the same problem. What is the solution (other than downgrading)?
Gnome - The weakest link!
Linux, *not* GNU/Linux!

As Cotton said - the other updated kde packages have cured the problem (kdeaddons and kdesdk). Upgrade the system again and it should be ok.

It isn't. The strange thing is that /opt/kde/lib/kde3/kio_http.so is linked against two different versions of libdb (4.2 and 4.2) but only 4.2 exists in current, while 4.3 doesn't. BTW: My system is up to date (pacman -Sy && pacman -Su just a few minutes ago).

no, unfortunately not :-(
i'm -Suy for all other pkgs (except kdelibs that is 3.3.2-4 because otherways konqueror would not work)

no - it cannot be this ... it's not working for any user

where can i get 3.3.2-3 please? (i cleaned my cache since...)

Hello all, I have suffered the same fate. I recieve the same error if I try to use konqueror to surf the net in any way. I also recieve the error when using Kopete to login to MSN messaging. kdelibs 3.3.2-4 must have a slight glitch in it. My installation of kdeaddons and kdesdk are also up to date and I am still recieving the same error.

same here. because i cleaned my cache while trying to recover, i lost the rescue package (3.3.2-3). but i was able to revert by rebuilding the ABS package because i havnt updated the abs (thankfully...). i guess u can do the same and reinstall 3.3.2-3.

you can always get a specific PKGBUILD version from the CVS:

btw:
[root@Asteraceae pkg]# namcap kdelibs-3.3.2-4.pkg.tar.gz
kdelibs E: Dependency detected and not included (mesa) from files ['opt/kde/lib/libkdeinit_kio_http_cache_cleaner.so', 'opt/kde/bin/kio_http_cache_cleaner', 'opt/kde/lib/kde3/kio_http_cache_cleaner.so', 'opt/kde/lib/kde3/kio_http.so']

mesa?
I just removed mesa because Fireworks (GL) - my KDE screensaver - started eating CPU lately (probably after the latest mesa upgrade). It's been working great ever since.
Note that this is not an extremely tested observation. I've just seen the GL screensaver slowing down (loosing frames), stopped the screensaver, looked at the CPU graph (which just showed a drop from 100% to almost nothing) and I thought: "what are the 3D things I've upgraded lately?"
# cat /var/log/pacman.log | grep mesa
[07/22/04 18:08] installed mesa (6.0.1-1)
[11/18/04 21:08] upgraded mesa (6.0.1-1 -> 6.2-1)
[12/30/04 17:10] upgraded mesa (6.2-1 -> 6.2.1-1)
[12/31/04 15:48] removed mesa (6.2.1-1)
Ok, mesa is out... I don't need mesa.. OpenGL works fine for me. It works great without mesa. Even Konqueror works great without mesa.
I have to admit though, I didn't upgrade to any kde*.3.3.2-4 package.

This morning i upgraded the system and this problem appeared again.
An error occurred while loading http://kde.org:
Could not start process Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: Error loading 'kio_http':
.
kdelibs-3.5.7-2 kdebase-3.5.7-1 kdenetwork-3.5.7-1
My solution:
$ locate kio_http.so
/opt/kde/lib/kde3/kio_http.so
$ ldd /opt/kde/lib/kde3/kio_http.so
libgssapi.so.1 => not found
<and some libs presented in system>
$ locate libgssapi.so
/usr/lib/libgssapi.so
/usr/lib/libgssapi.so.4.0.0
/usr/lib/libgssapi.so.4
$ pacman -Qo /usr/lib/libgssapi.so
/usr/lib/libgssapi.so is owned by heimdal 0.7.2-6
# ln -s /usr/lib/libgssapi.so /usr/lib/libgssapi.so.1
$ konqueror
And it works!
But I think, that kdelibs (or heimdal) package must be fixed. Am i right?

How come you still got that old heimdal?
Looks like you pretty much created this problem yourself . Latest kdelibs was rebuilt to work with the recent heimdal.

Server = ftp://gd.tuwien.ac.at/opsys/linux/archl … nt/os/i686
This mirror is too old.
Now i used ftp://ftp.belnet.be/packages/archlinux/current/os/i686 and got new heimdal.
Thanks!
