When I go to System Settings->Multimedia and click on test button for my HDA Intel (STAC92xx Analog) soundcard, I get this error:
Notification from Phonon:KDE's Multimedia
The audio playback device HDA Intel (STAC92xx Analog) does not work.
Falling back to default
I installed ALSA.
cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#2 | grep Codec
Codec: SigmaTel STAC9274D
In Gnome and Xfce I have sound, but I don't know what to do to get sound to work in KDE.

Go to System Settings > Multimedia, and set everywhere the device named "default" above all the other devices listed in every box.

How can I go to the system settings if I only use some kde apps without the whole DE?

Run systemsettings
/usr/bin/systemsettings ist in kdebase-workspace 4.3.0-2 enthalten

Thanks for the answer.
Sadly I now I have to install 180MB of packages just to solve this issue

Also changing the backend from phonon-gstreamer to phonon-xine seems to solve this issue. I don't know if it's better to use "default" in gstreamer or appropriate device in xine... to me the latter sounds more logical but could be wrong.
pacman -S phonon-xine
system settings > Multimedia > Backend > Xine
ps: you can always switch from one backend to the other.
