Can anybody help to make pkg build?
Offline
Bump pkg version with ABS and try if it will work - it should, as skype is binary

With the dynamic version I can't see my and contacts avatar.
Instead with the static version I don't have this problem.
My arch is x86_64.
Offline
New version, same old story, with the added "bonus" that it doesn't seem to support OSS anymore, just great

mine doesn't even want to start, is segmenting fault:P

I simply downloaded the dynamic (and static) version into my home. After decompressing and chmod +x skype, I executed it with /skype.

I think is not a native issue for X86_64 architecture.
Ubuntu package offers a 64bit version.
Anibody knows the "ia32" or pulseaudio dependences in Arch64 now?
Grets.

I have this problem with the current version of bin32-skype 2.0.0.72-6 too. Maybe trying the static version (bin32-skype-staticqt 2.0.0.72-6) the problem disappears.

If skype is segfaulting try adding "options=('!strip')" to your pkgbuild. It seems like skype is checking it's checksum on startup or so

Yep. Nice hint. Now it works.

For now it seems to be the case. It seems the devs there are just looking at making skype play nice with pulse+alsa for now, and from what I can tell they are/were having quite a hard time.
For now the new skype doesn't know OSS and the trick of installing alsa-plugins and using asound.conf to make it use OSS also doesn't work.
I didn't want to have to try pulse on top of OSS, it's a waste in my case because I don't need any of the extra features pulse would provide.
The only other option is to try libsalsa but it conflicts with alsa-lib, some programs require alsa-lib so I don't know if they will explode if it is missing, also the OSS PKGBUILD would need to be changed so OSS provides alsa-lib, otherwise the next time something needs it there will be trouble.
To add to that the soundon script needs some patching to cope with Arch's directory structure to make things automagically work (even without libsalsa it already needs patching, I'll need to report that once the bugtracker is up again).
Considering it all it's too much work just because of one program, hopefully we will see an OSS enabled skype version in the future.

did someone got this working on a 64 arch with pulse? the app works, but no sound... trying to configure the sound w/o lib32-pulseaudio installed gives me:
ALSA lib pcm.c:2171:(snd_pcm_open_conf) Cannot open shared library /usr/lib/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_pulse.so
with lib32-pulseaudio gives:
Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-open.c: 643: _dl_open: Assertion `_dl_debug_initialize (0, args.nsid)->r_state == RT_CONSISTENT' failed!

I'm using skype in a chroot, so I can just comment that that works fine. Arch's multilib support isn't the best, sorry (just my opinion, hence my decision for a chroot).

Yeah, the problem persists here too.

For me the quality hasn't changed either, however the stability of the calls has improved on my system. With the previous version I was experiencing sporadic echoes and seg faults, even with posted workarounds. But over the past 2 weeks I've made a few calls over an hour each and both and audio and video been rock solid...
