The autohide feature in adeskbar version 0.1.7.4-1 from the AUR does not seem to work when choosing a position on the right or left side of the screen if the desktop cube is enabled with cube rotation in compiz. It only works along the top or bottom of the screen if those effects in compiz are enabled. If however, the compiz effects are disabled, any position works with the autohide feature.
I wonder if this is a compiz or adeskbar issue. Is anyone else able to reproduce/confirm this?

I'm having problems using adeskbar in a multi-user environment. When the second user clicks any icon in adeskbar, it launches the last app that the first user launched. From what I can tell based on the terminal output below, when the second user tries to access an app, adeskbar launches whatever is in /tmp/adeskbar.sh. In the example below, the second user is trying to launch '/usr/bin/pcmanfm', but instead the app that is saved in '/tmp/adeskbar.sh' is launched.
Both instances of adeskbar are being executed by each user, respectively.
[ADeskBar] 00:48:53 ~ Exec. | /usr/bin/pcmanfm |
sh: /tmp/adeskbar.sh: Permission denied
Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Why isn't it in the AUR?

@ pablokal : my fault .. forgot to say : adeskbar use now a new config file [*]. So you need to reconfigure
easy way , remove old config :
rm ~/.config/adeskbar/*.cfg
[*] all plugins have their own config : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zp-5LlZVCkU

Thanks, Adcomp this did the trick all right.
Another slight issue that already was there before is: the categorie images don't show in adeskbar in my openbox setup.
In usr/share/adeskbar/adesk _int_.py it reads:
cat_icon = {
'Accessories':'/usr/share/icons/gnome/24x24/categories/applications-utilities.png',
'Games':'/usr/share/icons/gnome/24x24/categories/applications-games.png',
'Graphics':'/usr/share/icons/gnome/24x24/categories/applications-graphics.png',
'Internet':'/usr/share/icons/gnome/24x24/categories/applications-internet.png',
'Office':'/usr/share/icons/gnome/24x24/categories/applications-office.png',
'Other':'/usr/share/icons/gnome/24x24/categories/applications-other.png',
'Programming':'/usr/share/icons/gnome/24x24/categories/applications-development.png',
'Settings':'/usr/share/icons/gnome/24x24/categories/preferences-desktop.png',
'Sound & Video':'/usr/share/icons/gnome/24x24/categories/applications-multimedia.png',
'System Tools':'/usr/share/icons/gnome/24x24/categories/applications-system.png',
These icons and folder are not there in my setup or after install.
I have a folder gnome-wine and gnome-brave but these don't provide useful 24x24 icons.

Hi pablokal,
these icons are part of gnome-icon-theme .. but it seems you've already found where to make changes
Offline
Yes, I know how to solve it, but I thought maybe you could include these images in your next release, so you lose a dependency of the gnome-icon-theme.

I've updated darkbaboon's respectively MarianoC's PKGBUILD for 0.22-1 inkl. optdepends.
@ADcomp:
Can you use a more consistent package-naming ($pkgname-$pkgver.$pkgsubver.tar.bz2 in the arch-way ;D ), so the AUR-Maintainers update faster?
PKGBUILD:
# $Id: PKGBUILD,v 1.00 2009/05/31 01:00 darkbaboon Exp $
# Contributor: Ronan Rabouin <darkbaboon@gmail.com>
pkgname=adeskbar
pkgver=0.22
pkgrel=1
pkgdesc="A Quick Application Launcher"
arch=('i686' 'x86_64')
url="http://www.ad-comp.be/index.php?category/ADesk-Bar"
license=('GPL3')
depends=('python' 'pygtk')
optdepends=('python-wnck: for Desktop-plugin and Intellihide-function'
'python-pyalsaaudio: for Volume-plugin')
provides=($pkgname)
conflicts=($pkgname-bzr)
source=(http://www.ad-comp.be/public/projets/ADeskBar/adeskbar_$pkgver-$pkgrel.tar.bz2)
md5sums=('5fdce6fb16e73e4de8d1180f3eec83b5')
build() {
cd $srcdir
install -d $pkgdir/usr/{bin,share/$pkgname,share/pixmaps,share/applications}
cp -a $srcdir/$pkgname/src/* $pkgdir/usr/share/$pkgname
install -m 644 $srcdir/$pkgname/src/images/$pkgname.png $pkgdir/usr/share/pixmaps/
install -m 644 $srcdir/$pkgname/$pkgname.desktop $pkgdir/usr/share/applications/
install -m 755 $srcdir/$pkgname/$pkgname.sh $pkgdir/usr/bin/$pkgname
}
Anyway, adeskbar looks like an promising bar-app .

BlueDarkneez, thanks for the PKGBUILD. The opt dependencies are in AUR and not in official repo. If you put the message as a post install that would be nice.

In the copy&paste-way it's not possible to include an MD5 for the adeskbar.install, but it's equal because you can see the content .

Hello ,
Don't go to fast .. v0.3 is only for beta-test !
For Systray plugin , you need "python-xlib"
Now , I use " ~/.config/adeskbar/output.log " to log adeskbar output/error ( /usr/bin/adeskbar )
But if you want 'live' output : /usr/share/adeskbar/adeskbar
Thanks
--
Edit : if you use systray , it doesn't reload when you configure / refresh .. you need to stop/restart adeskbar. !beta inside!

A huge problem in version 0.3.0 is the digital clock, which freezes sporadically. Sometimes it happens when the time changes between the 12 and 24 hours and now even at 10:23.
The only errors i've got, are:
/usr/share/adeskbar/adesk/__init__.py:289: GtkWarning: Failed to set text from markup due to error parsing markup: Fehler in Zeile 1: Entität endete nicht mit einem Semikolon; wahrscheinlich haben Sie ein &-Zeichen benutzt, ohne eine Entität beginnen zu wollen - umschreiben Sie das »&« als &
bt_label.set_markup(label)
/usr/share/adeskbar/adesk/__init__.py:494: GtkWarning: Failed to set text from markup due to error parsing markup: Fehler in Zeile 1: Entität endete nicht mit einem Semikolon; wahrscheinlich haben Sie ein &-Zeichen benutzt, ohne eine Entität beginnen zu wollen - umschreiben Sie das »&« als &
bBox.pack_start(button, False, False)
Nothing about the time or clock.
