[solved]unknown problem causing extremely slow gaming!

Hi,

I am finding some games play fine and others play excruciatingly slowly!

Games that run fine;
crimson
bomberclone
noiz2sa

Games that crawl;
scorched3d
spring engine
warzone2100
supertuxkart

Spring Engine did run fine a while back, but just tried it again, and it is unplayable! All the games that crawl, first thing i notice is slow is the menus, it takes roughly a minute or 2 to respond to a key press! then once into a game it is unbareble!!

any advice would be appreciated!

sorry, think it is an Nvidia 3d acceleration issue. no luck solving as yet, but have created a separate post.
