Change AUCTeX PDF Viewer

For some reason, my default pdf viewer in auctex is evince even though I don't have it installed. I tried using the menu LaTeX -> Customize AUCTeX -> Expand menu but it says that it's undefined. I know I have to edit the "TeX-output-view-style" but I don't have that option in emacs. How do I go about adding it/is there any other way I can change my default pdf viewer?

Re: Change AUCTeX PDF Viewer

What version of AUCTeX are you using? The above is for 11.86.

Maybe you do not initialize AUCTeX fully on startup. Try to load latex-mode and make sure it is AUCTeX and not the build-in mode.

Hello vatai.

Be careful of really old threads.  I've a hunch that three years on, this may not be an issue.

Closing because things change so fast, and if anyone has a similar problem now, ancient solutions probably will just confuse things.
