hi every one
um...in bid to make a live ( backup ) cd of a running Arch Linux installation , i have tried larch 7 and archiso-live
hm..while using archiso-live , i have used the livebackup profile to create an live image of the system..
However , after booting the live system to the desktop ...
i realized something was wrong
when i opened a terminal ( lxterminal or xfce terminal )
instead of getting the usual
23:32 fplolz ~ $
i dont get any verbose out put at all
i get a blank terminal
and
when running gparted ( from the icon shortcut issuing the command sudo gparted )
i get an error
Failed to run /usr/sbin/gparted as user root
Failed to for new process: No such file or directory
and
on the start up of livecd ,
i get the following errors
*Adding new real_root branch: /tmp/base.lzn
mkmod: /real_root/dev/console: File exists
mkmod: /real_root/dev/null: File exists
mkmod: /real_root/dev/zero: File exists
Edit: though , i could log in as root from lxdm .. i cant access the terminal from root in lxdm..
same for a non-root usesr
i wonder if the problems are related..
um..does anyone know how to fix this?
Any help would be much appreciated
thanks in advance

I still can't get it to work
is the command "source exports"
maybe the culprit Godane?

After alot of messing around I think the errors are related to /dev/pts
If anyone has ever had this issue please comment?
thanks

@72linus
I have not support the livebackup profile in a long time. I'm doing a rewrite of called archiso2 which may get my scripts into the offical archiso project.
So the livebackup profile is not supported anymore. I'm sorry.
The new scripts are below:
http://github.com/godane/archiso2
PS the 'source exports' is need since everything is the archiso-live git repo.
I'm working on a live cds based on Archlinux. http://godane.wordpress.com/

OK
mmmm...
so, will the new archiso2 scripts build a livebackup?
I really liked the livebackup except for the non-usable terminal thing
but other than that it was very cool:cool:
and so I also make alot of livecd stuff including a livecd for ARCH
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions … ost4019826
and I'm diggin the zen kernel right, but I have made a "kit" for Slackware and have one for ARCH (x86 and x86_64) I am making now
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions … ost4019567
and have made a prelim x86_64 ARCH live version too
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions … ost4017796
the point of my questions being-
How would I integrate your live-live and such to my stuff?
yours uses squashfs 4.0 or higher?
you see, my "kit" will have everything needed to just run the script and wala
livebackup!
as yours does
I also dont have a real hdd installer
but I wanna use the archiso-installer
and was gonna try it out in qemu so we'll see.
Thanks Godane and keep it up!
