I've got a pair of Logitech G430's, and they sound amazing on Winderp$ using Virtual 7.1 dolby surround sound software. This software however is Winderp$ only. I need an equivalent of that software for Linux. I've done a LOT of looking, and I can't find anything that quite does the trick. I need full 7.1 virtualization, not surround sound stereo, or something else, I want the full potential of this headset (even though it is just advertised as virtual, it seems to be more than that, I'll explain in a bit). Most of you are probably thinking this is a stereo virtualized to 7.1, but you're halfway wrong. It's really weird. They "work" by default on Ubuntu, but they sound as if it was using 7.1 surround sound, yet only using the front two channels. Doing a bit of modifying to the pulseaudio.conf file, you can set it to have 8 channels (aka 7.1), yet still nothing will detect it as a 7.1 device, and it still only uses the front two channels. Running an audio test command, you can specify to try 8 channel support. When I did that, it managed to CORRECTLY output all channels except for LFE (Subwoofer channel) and the center channel. Yet still, games, VLC, ALSA, and other programs all see this as stereo again, and everything always uses just the front two channels. I really can't switch to Linux all the way unless I get this working again. I know it's possible in Linux, as I used to have stereo surround headset that worked by default (of course this is driver dependent, but still it shows it is possible). I really like Linux, as I've been using it for ~2.3 years, but it's not worth it if I can't get this working. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me here. Thanks all.

What's up? I've got a treat for you in case you're still looking for virtual surround sound on Arch Linux after all these years. 2014 was a golden time, wish I had it back.
