Graphic tablet is not working after update (libinput bug?)
Two days ago I updated my system, and now my graphic tablet XP-pen deco 01 v2 is not working (there is a while after plugging when I can move the mouse pointer and then it disappears and I can't select anything).
If I move the pen above the tablet, there are a lot of messages from Pentablet, as with the normal work:

I tried to use my HUION tablet today (Digimend drivers) and I encountered a possibly related issue. I use GNOME Shell with the mouse in relative mode (like a mouse pointer) and the pointer is stuck at top left every time I try to move the pointer on the tablet. In absolute pointer it seems to work better but I just rebooted after noticing that it wasn't working at all so it may be the same bug.
I suspect the bug to be rather in GNOME Shell. Arch GNOME maintainers did not enabled X11 on the GNOME 49 (I discovered that I did put GDM in X11 only mode a while ago) and assuming that @borgch use GNOME Shell, this coincide with GNOME 49 release on Arch, libinput was last update 4 weeks ago. And the reason why the downgrade did not helped is possibly because GDM retained the choice of the Wayland session instead of X11.
I have to test my theory but I need time to redownload the packages and test another day.

I use KDE with Wayland. Maybe the issue is with the Wayland?
I downgraded all the packages to version at 28.08 with the libinput:
...
[2025-09-26T17:31:18+0700] [ALPM] downgraded libinput (1.29.1-1 -> 1.29.0-1)
...replacing the content of /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist with
Server = https://archive.archlinux.org/repos/2025/08/28/$repo/os/$arch 'Now my graphic tablet works. But, of course, it would be better to find the correct solution)

I suggests that you try with X11 to see if this solve your issue. I built GNOME 49 (mutter, gnome-shell, gnome-session, gdm) from Arch's PKGBUILD with X11 enabled on my system and my issue is solved under X11, but not Wayland. Downgrading to libinput 1.29.0-1 changed nothing for me.
That you, a KDE user, have this issue is curious. In theory there is no "the Wayland server" as with X, the DE is "a Wayland server" with KDE and GNOME being independent implementations. I dug into latest package updates and kwin have been last updated on 2025-09-22 17:10 UTC. Actually GNOME and KDE released a new version nearly at the same time and the updated packages were both published the same day on 22/09 for Arch users. I am not into the XDG DE world but I find this coincidence funny, there may have been a common component or mimicked change that broke our use case but only on Wayland. Hence I think that this topic should be renamed "Graphic tablet is not working after GNOME 49/KDE 6.18.0 update".

It is very strange - I restored mirrorlist to actual and upgraded, and now the tablet works. Errors in syslog then plugging the tablet are still here.

For GNOME 49 users who were using X11 before, the issue in is GNOME Mutter : https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/4374. I filed a merge request that should fix the bug I mentioned earlier https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/- … uests/4701.
Beside this. I noticed that sometime the tablet would have issues to work like what @borgch said, but I have not pinpointed how to reproduce this behavior yet.
