Spectacle 'flickering' with AMD FreeSync monitor.

I have an AOC monitor with FreeSync support and am using KDE Plasma.

With Adaptive sync on Automatic, a slight flickering occurs whenever I open Spectacle screenshot tool. I have confirmed that when turning off Adaptive sync, this issue no longer occurs.

I have tried adding Spectacle as a Window Rule to disable Adaptive sync, but this seems to be ignored.

Have other people face this issue, and if so, any possible fixes that I have missed?

Many thanks in advance!

Re: Spectacle 'flickering' with AMD FreeSync monitor.

I believe I'm getting potentially the same problem in MPV and VLC.  It's only present when the application is fullscreen.  I'm using KDE Plasma with Wayland.

I have an NVIDIA GPU which supports G-Sync, but I'm not sure if that's relevant at all.  It's not present 100% of the time, but when it is present it will resolve itself if I'm no longer using fullscreen.  I haven't been able to reproduce it myself on my non-G-Sync/FreeSync monitor, but maybe it could be HDR related instead?

My issue may easily be different from yours though, I'm not able to reproduce the issue with spectacle so far.  Figured I'd mention this to see if you could reproduce with my applications.

Re: Spectacle 'flickering' with AMD FreeSync monitor.

I found a decent workaround.

Configure adaptive sync to be adaptive and then open the app that is 'flickering' (in my case Spectacle). Press ALT+F3 --> More Actions --> Configure Special Window Settings... --> Add property adaptive sync and force off.

For me this resolves the issue.

Re: Spectacle 'flickering' with AMD FreeSync monitor.

Thanks for the update!  That seems to fix it for me too, though I'm not sure why we're experiencing the issue in the first place.  Everything I dug up seemed to imply it was an older driver bug... /shrug

Thanks!
