I often get that problem too, I think it's due to the still immature state of the code, but I have still not had time to look into it. Are you using a framebuffer?

In my case it's not only often, it's always !
I heard about potential problems related to the framebuffer, but I'm not sure to know what this is; according to what I read, I guess I use one since my console is in high resolution.

ok, on my laptop, vgaswitcheroo is now present after enabling radeon module. i verified it shows "off" for the radeon card, and added the mount and echo commands to rc.local. so far so good, starts at boot ok. the temperature did seem to increase so i'm not sure if this is to do with new kernel, new x org, new kde or the card not actually being off. i will have to test it by disabling the radeon card as i was doing before.
but so far it seems to be working ok.
