Will try Vbox with nv driver later.

You may want to make sure that you have 3D acceleration disabled in the guest machine settings.

I've tried VMs with and without 3D acceleration. Both freezes host computer.

Re: nvidia 256.44-1 warning!

I have the same issue as tashtego with a GeForce 210 on x86_64 and 256.53. Downgrading to 256.35 resolves the issue. I'm not using the [testing] repository.

Should this be bugged on the arch bug tracker, or could it be an issue upstream with the kernel, VirtualBox, or the NVIDIA driver?

Odd, I have a Geforce 210 on x86_64 with 256.53 too. No problems at all.

Re: nvidia 256.44-1 warning!

Working fine on xf86-video-nv. This is not a solution since a need blender3d working, so i'll try to install 256.35 and look what i get.

Later: 256.35 - no problems. So i think that's really bug in 256.44 - 256.53. I don't know how to debug or get any information when system hungs immediately, anyone?

Same problem here. Once it freezed when I was using skype, because I started a virtual machine in VBox: everything on the screen was frozen, but the skype call (except for the video) was going on normally. If I downgrade to 256.35 I have to downgrade the kernel too, because there is a problem with versions (Nvidia 256.35 wants kernel < 2.6.35).
Everytime I start a virtual machine, I get the freeze.

I have a Nvidia GT240 on a 64bit Arch.

Edit: downgrading driver and kernel to 256.35 and 2.6.34.3 fixed the problem. Hence, there must be a bug introduced since .44

You can compile nvidia by youself for the latest kernel. All you need is to downgrade nvidia-utils with -Ud, get nvidia PKBUILD from abs, change version number and md5sum and run makepkg.

Re: nvidia 256.44-1 warning!

I found that the issue may not have entirely been with nvidia 256.44 or 256.53. I got kernel26 2.6.35.4-1, nvidia 256.53-1, and virtualbox_bin 2.3.8-2 all working together on Arch 64. I ran /etc/rc.d/vboxdrv setup after installing kernel 2.6.35.4-1 and nvidia 256.53-1 and rebooting. I rebooted again after running vboxdrv setup. It may have been that combination of packages and actions, or perhaps a change made in virtualbox_bin 2.3.8-2.

Hope this helps.
