I am eagerly waiting for the packages picasa, google-earth and jre (for applet support in 64bit firefox) in multilib.
Thank you very muchIf you read the mailing list thread on this, its highly unlikely for various reasons that any of the mentioned packages will be brought in.
ok. I read that. Atleast we have flash plugin and skype in the repo. I can make use of AUR for the rest for now.

Thank you for your work! I installed skype and flashplugin from multilib and they works. When I tried nspluginwrapper form AUR it didnt work.
Keep up the good job!

Hi guys, I installed flashplugin from the new repository multilib. Pacman says that I have to remove gcc-libs and install gcc-libs-multilib. Is it a safe operation?

yes. i believe in the future it would be lib32-gcc-libs or something like that to avoid this replace

I've just started an upgrade and the following is what I'm getting:

I think, it happens because I've installed lib32-freetype2-ubuntu instead of lib32-freetype2. Is there a solution for solving it?

@fgr packaging bug in lib32-freetype2-ubuntu . it doesn't provide lib32-freetype2

Everthing was fine since I installed flashplugin and skype from multilib. But now something seems to be messed up, I can't upgrade some packages because of some dependency issues.

can not find lib32-gcc in multilib repo.
Edit: Forget it. It's an AUR package that was isntalled as depency of bin32-acrobat. think it's not beeing updated since the multilib change.

that means there's a bug in any lib32-*-ubuntu. I'll point out this stuff to the maintainer/s of these packages. Thanks for your fast reply.

Very nice work, thank you! Everything works fine, 32-bit flashplugin really better than old 64 bit... Shame on Adobe

Just install flashplugin from multilib repository. Works like a charm! Thank you for your effort, guys. This new repository will make life a lot easier for us 64 bit user.
I also love that now lib32 (and bin32) packages are inside their own repository. A lot better than having them mixing in with other community packages.

Thank you for all the work! I always had some problems with wine but now it appears to be working quite nice.

Thanks a lot, this is great! Transitioning to x86_64 should be even easier now and anybody who (for reasons of 32-bit support) didn't want to use 64bit should damn well switch now
Only problem so far is that Opera doesn't work with flashplugin (Firefox is fine). I'm investigating, but couldn't make it work yet.

mcover you just have to add /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/i386/plugins to Operas Plugin Path.

so if all goes well will the recent updates on the front page show multilib updates too?

It works fine, but I tried to install Skype, and I got this error:
$ skype
skype: error while loading shared libraries: libXv.so.1: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
I have the necessary libraries, freshley installed, but for some reason it points to the wrong, 64-bit libXv.so.1
Here are the outputs of some relevant commands:
$ whereis libXv.so.1
libXv.so: /usr/lib/libXv.so.1 /usr/lib/libXv.so
$ find /usr/lib32 -name libXv.so.1
/usr/lib32/libXv.so.1
Am I doing something wrong?
PS: I would really like to get rid of all the bloated, outdated, proprietary crap, that Skype is, but it seems the whole world want to use it... (yes, I'm a bit annoyed by it...)

im currently in the process of doing a reinstall after a hard drive failure. i have enabled multilib. i noticed that the package is built with both wine64 and wine32. i also heard that only 64bit apps work in wine64. is there anything special that needs to be done to use wine32 by default? i dont use any 64bit apps that require wine.

Indeed there is lib32-gcc-libs now and the replacing of gcc-libs with gcc-libs-multilib is not needed.
If i understood this corrctly seeing the pkgbuilds from multilib repo, gcc-libs-multilib is a makedepend for all lib32 pkgs.
So we need it only if we want to compile some lib32 pkg correct?
Is it possible to compile packages for i686 using gcc-libs-multilib?(without chroots etc.)

Only problem so far is that Opera doesn't work with flashplugin (Firefox is fine). I'm investigating, but couldn't make it work yet.
That's because Opera doesn't search for plugins in the /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper folder and doesn't use the nspluginwrapper plugin (because it can handle 32 bit plugins on its own and the plugins wrapped with nspluginwrapper only cause problems). I already patched the PKGBUILD and did send a mail to the multilib mailinglist (which isn't published yet) describing the problem and a solution, which is to place the plugin in /usr/lib32/mozilla/plugins (instead of /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper), Opera will find the plugin in that folder and other browsers can still use the nspluginwrapper wrapped one from /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. This also keeps the /usr/lib/ folder free of 32 bit binaries and the plugin is (IMHO) still placed in a logical location (/mozilla/plugins from the corresponding lib folder)

Any of you Opera users get flash sound on oss4? Because I don't.

They rm'ed all the binaries in PKGBUILD. IMHO, they should keep some useful binaries like 'ldd' and install it as 'ldd32'.
I agree with this.

acroread no longer works for me since (*I think*) I added the multilib repo and updated last week.
Fails with the following in terminal:
(acroread:5094): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Error loading XPM image loader: Image type 'xpm' is not supported
(acroread:5094): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Error loading XPM image loader: Image type 'xpm' is not supported

(acroread:5094): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_ref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
This is on my laptop & desktop x64 systems, using bin32-acroread from the AUR and I also tried the binary blob from adobe. Not sure I can blame the multilib repo (which is excellent otherwise, btw).

I've installed Skype on the old way. Everything works, but is it better to install it again with the multilib repository or doesn't it make any difference?
