I'm not really sure - copy the new rc script over and make sure to use something like Esetroot to set a wallpaper...

Re: [new] wmii-cvs - updated May 4th, 2005

I don't think 'sorry' is enough to cover the anguish this 'little oversight' has caused me. My lawyers will be in touch for emotional damages in excess of several CPU cycles.

lol

I'm too lazy to create my own packages or to read the wmii sources to figure out how to make this beast work, so I'm really just trying each release you make until the stable comes out, at which point I'm assuming they will release documentation that is as thorough and readable (I LOVE readable docs!!) as the original wmi manpages.

Re: [new] wmii-cvs - updated May 4th, 2005

its working now. Segfaulted on me once already, so I won't likely be switching to it from wmi just yet, but I'm giving it another chance for now... just gotta figure out what all them actions do. wink

Re: [new] wmii-cvs - updated May 4th, 2005

Do you find that if you close a window, the keyboard manager shuts up on you until you use the mouse? (same problem I have with wmi-10, interestingly enough)

Re: [new] wmii-cvs - updated May 4th, 2005

a few things:

about actions... currently they are unnamed.  However, if you look at wmiinput_actions, it uses the same named actions as wmi.  After talking to Anselm about that, he liked my idea of havine a /etc/wmii/actions.conf and ~/.wmii/actions.conf - these settings will alias the IXP filesystem writes/reads to usable names.  I think he misunderstood me a bit though, looking at the darcs repo, because I was thinking the /etc version was always used first, and the ~ version could append/override.

Anyway, that makes it easier to use actions, instead of trying to understand the IXP filesystem.

Another note:
to reproduce the main screenshot here ( http://wmi.modprobe.de/2005-02-21.png ),
you can do the following:
mod1+x
mod1+u
mod1+e mozilla
mod1+v
mod1+u
mod1+x

still using WMI myself, but wmii is getting closer and closer....
I haven't noticed the mouse issue, I usually alt+i [banish] my cursor...

wmii has some funny focus issues, I'll have to track them down

PS if anyone wants to build darcs, I can make a more up-to-date version of WMII each day

Re: [new] wmii-cvs - updated May 4th, 2005

one more note:
the current IXP filesystem usage is hodge-podge... each app maintains its own filesystem, forcing wmir to use individual socket files to contact each app.  In the near future, one file system will be maintained for all apps to communicate through, changing:
wmir -s $HOME/.wmii/ixp/wmiinput-:0 write /ctl display 1
to:
wmir write /input/ctl display 1

which makes alot more sense, and allows for better configuration... until then I am not able to write a "theme parser" like I had planned on doing (along with a sample action to re-parse the theme, allowing on-the-lfy updates)

PS : were you able to check out the cairo alpha blending?

Don't know what it is, so don't know what/how to check out. wink I've got a BG on the thing now, what's the alpha blending give how's it configured??

I got wmii configured to my liking last night (stayed up all night ), but it kept quirking out on me this morning, so I'm back in wmi for now. I can see I'll ilke this when its stable... same feeling I felt when I tried wmi-5 the first time. Wasn't very stable but by wmi-8 I was hooked.

Yeah I'm feeling the same way... there's still some stability issues, and freaking maximize doesn't work (arg!!)... they're bugs that I can't reporduce, so I'm hoping others catch them.  My main qualm is the documentation of the ixp filesystem and the configuration mess...

I'll work on getting the configration together, as he's already taken one of my ideas...

I knew that much, but I was wondering how they got that transparency on the xterm background (I assume this is the alpha blending, right?). First, I have to enable Cairo, I assume this is done automatically by your PKGBUILD. Second, I have to enable Cairo and/or xterm to believe it has the blending... right?? So how?

Hmmm the cairo stuff is on the window decorations only... I'm pretty sure he's using aterm... that's what I do...

ah, I crashed last night... I just got real tired and ended up going to sleep at like 930... so I never got around to it... it'll be there by tonight

also, you may want to move you ~/.wmii/rc file out of the way, because the system level one will drop new files there for you to look at...

Alot of people on the dev list think that it's getting more and more usable... hooray!

failed downloading /wmii-cvs-20050317-1.pkg.tar.gz from phrakture.freelinuxhost.com: HTTP/1.1 302 Found

error: failed to retrieve some files from phrakture

Looks like you updated the db, but forgot to upload the new package. WMII/Dusty is a real pain in the ass...

Ah, I finally have it...  It's looking pretty sharp, isn't it. Now I have to reset all my keybindings again, they haven't provided a keybinding config file yet...
