I was inspired by this, but I didn't use mpd and wanted to track both eth0/wlan0 at the same time, so I've altered his theme a little bit. The resulting config files/scripts are here and .conkyrc is here. For setup instructions, download the tar file from the deviantart link.

The one there is Monaco. If onuova is somewhat similar to that then I'll definitely try it out. Thanks! wink

Edit: Really? Wow, those WERE thumbnails. Using the suggested 20% mogrify. Fine, this time I resized them. As mentioned below, it'd be great to have some guidlines, however. I would also like to mention that I count at least four other posts on this page alone that have thumbnails bigger than mine were that have no been touched.

Re: September 2010 Screenshots

Dear mods

For a few weeks now, you've been more vigilant about deleting thumbnails that are 'too big'. Meanwhile, we still only have some vague guidelines for screenshots that are 1024x768, as if anybody on a desktop pc would still use that resolution. Why don't you state a clear limit on size? Say, all thumbnails must be under 500kb in size and people are not to post more than 4 thumbnails in a reasonable amount of time. That way, people with bigger screens can use a lossy format at a lower quality for larger thumbnails without angering any dial-up mobs.

Sincerely,
robrene

Re: September 2010 Screenshots

a thumbnail should be no larger than 320x240 pixels (my opinion) and I'm sure the file size wouldn't be larger than a few kilos. The problem is with people posting full images. (i'm not a mod, but I don't like seeing full size pics on forums)

Re: September 2010 Screenshots

Monitors aren't something you buy everyday, so you should write down the size of the thumbnail you should post here (compare your thumbnail with all the other "approved" thumbnails for ideas).

For example, I always post mine scaled so that the width of my thumbnail is 250px (If you use Picasaweb, then it's really easy to scale an image):

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_dKoYM5KJ-2k/TIOu0sf0hZI/AAAAAAAABXU/fVy0rsQD8B4/s250/SSMac_Clean.png

The "s250" dictates the thumbnail width. So if you want the full image, just remove that part. If you want smaller thumb (say 100px), then change that to "s100". No need to create a separate thumbnail image! big_smile

Also, not everyone uses desktops... Netbooks have really small screen (right? I've never used one), and older laptops have lower resolutions (my laptop is 1024x768 and still works great)

@Kittykat: Nice colours (it's way too much stuff for my taste, but the colours are nice).
One thing, the "up to date" package check in your config or whatevr that is uses a gentoo logo. Is that on purpose or leftover? tongue

Could I get your conky config for your weather in the top right (looks exactly how I want it on my computer)? Also, could I get your weather script for that? Every script I've tried doesn't seem to work right.
