i had a look at that, but it seems to suffer from the same limitation that all the other existing gui apps have: it only works with pacman.
what is needed is a gui front-end for the package-query tool used by yaourt.
package-query also depends on pacman
I've had a tiny ncurses alpm frontend/package browser lying around my harddisk for a few weeks now and I finally got around to making a package and working some more on it today.
It's at a very early stage but package browsing and filtering works. Get it from the AUR if you want to try it out:

to be more precise: it depends on libalpm
my point was that package-query has support for the aur, whereas all the gui apps i've seen don't.

i'm in the middle of writing a pyqt gui wrapper for some libalpm python bindings i generated with swig. at some point, i will also add aur support (should be pretty easy to do using the json module in the python standard library).

I want to announce that as far as I'm concerned, this "issue" has been solved.
Thanks to the contribution of kachelaqa for a very nice app, to search, browse, and list details of Arch packages with AUR support.
I installed pkgbrowser and took it for a test run... Very nice addition / helper to pacman.
