Hmm, after doing 'pacman -Syu' I'm now down to:
checking package integrity...
:: File thunar-vfs-devel-1.1.0-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz is corrupted. Do you want to delete it? [Y/n] Y
:: File xfce4-appfinder-devel-4.7.1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz is corrupted. Do you want to delete it? [Y/n] Y
I'll try again later...

Maybe try to clean the cache, I'll check because it's not the first time someone report this problem.
I'll check if I correctly update my repos, maybe it's a wrong manipulation from my side.

magicrhesus, you should add gnome-menus as dependency for xfce4-panel.

Is your user in the 'optical' group?
Yep, I'm also in storage group too.

Why ?
In previous Xfce 4.7 (from git) I remember issue that you need to have gnome-menus instead of libxfce4menu (from 4.6). But now using magicrhesus repo it is not needed. But other unexpecting thing is that some items (eg. Run, Logout, Terminal emulator etc.) I can see now in "Other" menu not in main. Can I 'repair' it?

Without gnome-menus menu applet shows only "No applications found". There is no access to any application from the menu.

After cleaning the cache and forcing a complete re-sync, everything is now working as it should.
Posting this from xfce4-devel-session
Really excited about this, our last best hope for a practical DE :-P

If it is the no "menu/applications.menu" found error, I fix it by copying /etc/xdg/menus/xfce-applications.menu to .config/menus/applications.menu

I'm having this problem with the notification are: Icons are way to small, sometimes they don't display at all and so on...
Anyone else getting this?
To be more precise, I start the first app that uses a 'system tray' icon. It doesn't display. I start the second app, now both are displayed but way too small.
I then start the third, and all icons are scaled to a usable size. Closing a program scales the remaining icons down in size again..
UPDATE:
It also seems that this behaviour is dependent on the actual programs used.
Generally my 'system tray' is messed up until I start SMplayer(qt). With gtk only apps running, even 5 or 6 of them, all icons are to small...
Closing down SMPlayer, shrinks all other icons as mentioned above.

I can also confirm that kind of behavior by systray. But there are several bug reports already filed on xfce bugzilla for this, like this one.

With the latest release of xfce-utils + garcon + panel, the environment variable XDG_MENU_PREFIX is set to "xfce-" if not already defined. That's the proper way to load the correct menu. This value is also used in alacarte.

Maybe a small suggestion for the devel repo, it is possible to easily patch alacarte for Xfce without the gnome-panel dependency for desktop file editor. In Exo Xfce provides an editor too that is compatible with the gnome version (since 0.5).
pkgname=alacarte-xfce
pkgver=0.13.2
pkgrel=1
pkgdesc="Menu editor for Xfce"

depends=('gnome-menus>=2.30.4' 'exo-devel')
makedepends=('intltool')
options=('!libtool')
conflicts=('alacarte')

cd "${srcdir}/alacarte-${pkgver}"
sed -e 's/gnome-desktop-item-edit/exo-desktop-item-edit/g' -i Alacarte/MainWindow.py

There is an incorrect dependency in the Thunar package, it depends on gamin. This is not needed since GIO provides monitoring, only thunar-vfs should depend on garmin/fam.

Thanks, I changed the dependency

package alacarte-xfce-devel has been added to AUR. binary packages will come in the repo in the next hours

I tried thunar-devel today (from AUR), and automounting does not work without HAL.

Bad configuration at your side, if you could give more details about your config it could help to debug your problem

Thanks, but I did it just to see whats new. I allready downgraded, I will wait for stable one.
I wish I had time like in old days to waste my days configuring devel packages.

In the xfce-utils package, I think --with-xsession-prefix should point to /usr, because now the xfce.desktop file is not found by lxdm, maybe for gdm too.

Why do these packages have '-devel' suffix? As they conflict with the stable packages you could just name them the same... That would bring cleaner updates IMHO.

I think the reason is to make it cleaner. You have the xfce4-devel for 4.8 and xfce4 fot 4.6, so people can choose to install the 4.8 or the stable 4.6.
In order to install 4.8, I use the "pacman -Sdf xfce4-devel" which don't check dependency and overwrite conflicting files. Then I install missing packages on which xfce4-devel depends.

If anybody manages to add xfce4-devel to pacman.conf it should be obvious for her/him that development packages will be installed... So - I do not agree.
(Take a look at kde-unstable, the update works perfectly... Well, KDE itself still has some serious bugs though...)
I will wait for xfce4(-rc) to enter testing.

What about xfburn-devel package?

What about xfburn-devel package?
The last version of xfburn is in extra, the code has not yet been moved to the new versions of exo/garcon/...
However, there is a git version of the xfburn package but it only contains more translations than the 0.4.3 release
