Wrong, it was tagged. It has been released 20 minutes ago. Arch Linux packages released now!

That mirror doesn't have it yet, wait for sync or try another.

Re: [kde-unstable] KDE 4.6

Just upgraded, all went as it should.

Beta2 seems nice. First of all, Dolphin is much faster on startup, without HAL that is. Still not perfect, though, 2-3 seconds lag is better than 15-20 sec, but still too much. Hope this will be entirely fixed by the time of a final release.

Locale section in System Settings is also fixed, suspend & hibernate also work.

However, solid still does not recognize upower backend, and root and home partitions are still recognized as removable devices. smile

Other than that, all seems fine.

Re: [kde-unstable] KDE 4.6

Running on upower alone, I still didn't have suspend and hibernate working correctly.

Edit: upower not udisks

Edit2: Anyone else seeing 2 batteries when running with hal and upower both installed?

Re: [kde-unstable] KDE 4.6

almost everything here is working faster: dolphin , konqueror, gwenview.
still nepomuk/strigi make my cpu crazy smile
so the upgrade solved 95% of my problems

Re: [kde-unstable] KDE 4.6

@scio
Well, since HAL and Upower are both doing the same job, they both see the same battery.
It's exactly the same with HAL, Udisks and hard-drives, optical discs etc.
I'm not sure if that's a bug, but really doesn't look nice.....

Re: [kde-unstable] KDE 4.6

Dolphin is indeed faster with udisks alone.

The problem with the double batteries, double entries etc. is that powerdevil and solid try to read both from HAL and udisks at the same time.

I think it is indeed a bug because even if the intention is to only have one backend OR the other installed, solid still looks for the other backend at runtime (check this by the terminal output of dolphin for example whithout hal deamon running).

So it should either not look for the other backend or have a mechanism to filter out devices listed by both backends. The latter seems much more difficult to me.

Re: [kde-unstable] KDE 4.6

Since HAL is being phazed out, I think these are minor issues. The easiest way IMO would be focusing on upower and udisks for now and then simply remove HAL-support altogether.

That's assuming the upower/udisk backend is developed enough to fully replace HAL on all machines, of course.

Anyways, thanks bash. smile

Re: [kde-unstable] KDE 4.6

Running very smoothly here. Thank you for the packages!

The enhanced window "snap" feature is great (snap into quarters, rather than only half the screen). Loving the new plasma groups, too. I've wanted an alignment grid since day one. Good stuff. big_smile

I understand what makes both show up, but the back-ends should be exclusive or, you get HAL or upower not both.  I was just trying to verify if it was my setup or everyone saw it.

when I disabled hal in rc.conf, but not removed it form the system, Dolfin shows single disk entries. And K3B is also working. I cannot check battery applet as I'm using this beta on my desktop pc only.

Re: [kde-unstable] KDE 4.6

Hi,

I think I found a bug, but I cannot say if it is really a kde bug.

When using 4.5.85, I cannot use pam_mount anymore. If it is enabled, kdm segfaults when starting the session for my user. Disabling pam_mount makes it possible to start a session (but without the encrypted home, of course, so that's not a workaround smile )

For now the workarond is logging in in text console and running startx.

Can anyone confirm ?

Re: [kde-unstable] KDE 4.6

I'm having another problem: in kontact, I get a lot of 'conflict resolution' messages. Very annoying.

It's using in IMAP source, by the way…

Re: [kde-unstable] KDE 4.6

Could someone set a light on the libcanberra issue - if I may.  So currently kdebase-runtime depens on libcanberra which again depends on gstreamer and gtk, both of those aren't excatly needed for libcanberra to function and even less by KDE. It can be split into pieces and it has been done in debian for example. So is there any plans on the matter or is there a benefit in the current setup?

Hi.

Unfortunately the new libktorrent (git) broke ktorrent for me, I had to switch back.

Cheers,
