I looked through the thread so far and saw that you hadn't posted your configs, so I'll ask for this set now please. I LOVE your setup.

Well, I'm still tweaking here and there, so I can't give you the exact setup from the time of the shot (sorry!). But I can give you a snapshot of my setup just the way it is right now, a little evolved:
twiva_v0.1pre.7z

Hope that helps. If you need anything else, let me know, and I'll see if I can find it for you.

Your submission might be hosed. Read the first post for the new rules, you might have ignored it since you haven't posted here for quite a while. Nice shot though.

Using a terminal as desktop as described here.

And, using the GTK/openbox themes by Zen:Core (from here, can be downloaded here).

As minimal as I could get it for my poor little netbook smile

I'd be curious to hear how that works out for you. I have never had much luck with either echinus or ourico.

Re: December 2010 Screenshots

It doesn't have all the functionality of (a patched) dwm - but it is similarly light and straightforward to configure - and not having to recompile to make changes is helpful smile
It's a really nice wm.

Why haven't you had any luck with it?

I think you're seeing things - those icons are from awesome, if I'm correct.

Why haven't you had any luck with it?

I have tried echinus a few times, and every time it seemed there was something that didn't work right in my initial explorations of playing with the configuration and window management, and I usually haven't had the patience to really look into it to see if it was a problem with the window manager or a gap in my understanding.

I have tried ourico a few times without echinus and it seemed quite heavy on resources. It seemed to be hogging about 40% of the CPU pretty constantly. How do you find echinus and ourico on resources when you use them together?

I just might dust off those tarballs and try them out again. I was similarly impatient with musca the first few times I tried it, but when I put in the time to figure it out, it became one of my favourite window managers (though I've lost patience with a few bugs relating to full-screen windows). Maybe echinus is worth the trouble it takes to get to know it. If not, I can always go back to i3, my current wm of choice.

For most of the simple tiling behaviour, it works as well as the others.

I'm running on an EeePC - so no issues at all: uses slightly more cycles than dwm; but nothing I would describe as significant.

You're welcome to grab my respective .rc files to have a crack at it again https://bitbucket.org/jasonwryan/eeepc/src/ It's a quick and painless way to see if it is more to your tastes nowadays smile
