unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

I upgraded yesterday from linux-ck-ivybridge-4.0.6-1 to 4.1.6-1 and now have trouble getting any sound out of integrated speakers on snd_hda_intel. Everything works fine on vanilla linux-4.1.6-1 (headphones and HDMI out are fine on both vanilla and ck 4.1.6-1). Any changes I should be aware of? Pointers where to look? I didn't notice anything relevant by diffing the kernel config files...

graysky, how can you built headers packages? 4.0 and 4.1 all releases - I can't build headers, makepkg and yaourt says "cp: cannot stat 'arch//Makefile': No such file or directory". May be PKGBUILD need fixing by https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/43885 ?

I don't know how graysky does it for his CK packages, but for mine, I'm essentially using the Clean Chroot method (actually, I'm using graysky's wonderful clean-chroot-manager), which is like using makepkg to build packages but in a chroot environment.

@professor - All packages are build in a chroot. Perhaps you are encountering a yaourt bug. Recommend you try with makepkg or with ccm as clfarron recommends. As to FS#43885, I will wait for the Arch devs to rule on a final fix to implement.

I wrote that makepkg show same error. And very strange that i download linux-ck-headers from your repo, install it and try build nvidia-ck, but nvidia module can't agreed with version of drm module. OK, i download nvidia-ck package from your repo too and that not work So i think i need to compile headers in my pc but can't do it Let's try chroot method.

UPDATE. So - chroot method works, thank you all. But fixing PKGBUILD is more usefull, update with yaourt faster and more suitable

Updating linux-ck-k10 from 4.1.6 to 4.1.7 introduced the following message at boot:

Initramfs unpacking failed: Data corrupted

The PC still boots, though. After I tried to rebuild it again, next boot showed this

Initramfs unpacking failed: Decoding failed

I am using the lz4 compression. Downgrading back to 4.1.6 gets rid off the message.
Interestingly, linux-ck-bobcat 4.1.7 doesn't seem to be affected, the only difference being gummiboot on that one vs GRUB on k10...

@Soukyuu - No idea... I do not have a k10 to test on my own. What happens if you switch the compression to gzip (default), rebuild, and reboot?

Maybe something odd happened when you generated the image or maybe you have some filesystem corruption? Works now it would seem.

Btrfs scrub said volume is clean and I did re-build the 4.1.7 initramfs a couple of times (getting one of the two errors each time I did that), so a stray error shouldn't be the reason.
But yes, now it works. Thanks again for providing the repo.

trying to update my system, getting this:

should i just wait to update until the repo-ck packages are updated to newer nvidia drivers?

what are the differences between the -nehalem and generic packages?
say i wanted to update the nvidia-ck pkgbuild available in the aur by myself, how much does it need to be changed to build a -nehalem package like you provide in your repository?

Yes, I cannot push an update until later today. Many packages went from testing into extra and I think all 3 nvidia ones are affected. It'll happen ASAP,

With the official designation of the 4.1.x series as a long-term support kernel, and official adoption as the Arch linux-lts kernel, the linux-lts-ck is now on the 4.1 branch.

This means that the linux-ck and linux-lts-ck packages will probably look identical until CK is release for the 4.2 series.

It seems that linux-ck-haswell 4.1.9-1 + nvidia-ck-haswell 355.11-3 are causing some very bizarre system freezes for me. The whole mess is kinda difficult to understand, but here are the facts:
- the problem started yesterday, after upgrading the kernel.
- the freeze happens suddenly, leaving the machine completely unresponsive except for SysRq commands. Screen is simply frozen, no kernel messages or anything.
- after a forced reboot, all logs (journalctl, kernel.log, Xorg.log) are clean, no hint of what happened.
- in some, but not all, cases there are core dumps to be found afterwards. Here are the backtraces from one freeze:

- it does not happen with an earlier version of -ck kernel and nvidia module (4.1.8-1, 355.11-2) or with their vanilla counterparts from official repos (4.2.2-1, 355.11-3).
- the bizarre part is that the only apparent way to cause the freeze is to run qBittorrent. The freeze always happens within about 10 minutes from launching it. It happens regardless of whether I'm interacting with it, leave it on a different workspace, or just let the PC sit idle. It happens whether or not there are any active torrents. qBittorrent itself never leaves core dumps or terminal output, and seems to otherwise function fine. I've been using qBittorrent for years, and the current version of it (3.2.3-1) since 2015-09-10, with no problems. And, as mentioned, the freeze only happens in combination with this particular kernel version.
- I couldn't find any other program to cause a freeze: other Qt apps (Okular, Skype) and other torrent clients (Transmission) work fine, as do the rest of my regularly used programs (e.g. Firefox, Geany, PCManFM, gmusicbrowser, mpv).

Any ideas how to investigate this further are welcome.

I'm also getting system freezes with the latest linux-ck-bulldozer (4.1.9-1) and nvidia-ck (355.11-3). It freezes every 10-30 minutes and even when the computer is completely idle with nothing more than KDE running. I don't use qbittorent.

No system freezes when using the previous versions of linux-ck/nvidia-ck or the vanilla kernel.

Must be a combo of 4.1.9 and the new nvidia. The way to test it is for you to keep 4.1.9 and manually build the old version of nvidia which you can grab for the AUR's history page. Let me know if you can't find it.
