The standard linux kernel (3.17.x) works just fine.
Any idea why this might be? The specific kernel is linux-ck-haswell.

i had same effect on ivybridge with 3.18.1-2.
unfortunately, i still had no time to try other versions of this kernel.
reverted to my trusted 3.14 smile

Yeah, that's my point.  The bfs rarely if ever is to blame for these issues.  Just scroll back through the 85 pages of this thread to count up how many false alarms there are...

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Just got 3.18 working for the first time on my netbook (using the bobcat kernel) (I'd been stuck using earlier versions for a week due to the broadcom-wl thing until I found out my BCM43228 wireless chipset is now supported by the b43 driver in 3.17 and higher, whoops) and while it's working fine overall, I tried adding elevator=bfq to enable bfq and it crashes during startup with a kernel panic in btrfs. It boots fine without that parameter. The weird part, is my desktop (haswell kernel) DOESN'T do this crash with BTRFS and BFQ on 3.18...

Gourd- Please report this to CK's blog and to BFQ's upstream.  Perhaps you discovered a bug with BFQ+BFS+BTRFS.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Hi, I've been having this issue ever since I've switched to this kernel.

error: failed retrieving file 'linux-ck-ivybridge-3.18.1-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz' from repo-ck.com : transfer closed with 16702353 bytes remaining to read

I have tried different wifi connections, wired vs wireless, direct vs via router, etc, but I've never been able to download the full archive in one go.

The connection to the repo is not always stable. See the wiki for a possible solution.

When running same on backup system Manjaro no panic

I run the repo-ck's ck linux-ck-atom and broadcom-wl-ck-atom on my Ideapad S12 laptop on both the archlinux system and on the backup manjaro system.

Only the archlinux system has a Kernel panic when using the archlinux system no LAN, WiFi only connect with Firefox. When using the manjaro system, the WiFi only the connection works without a kernel panic.

3.18.2 — still getting kernel panics on ivybridge (either official & ck).
i've made PKGBUILDs for 3.17.8 and some extra modules for it, but 3.17 branch is EOL at the moment sad
anyway, i'll upload them to AUR tomorrow, after final checks (i'm drunk a bit right now, so can't trust myself)

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Another kernel panic here as well, again upon accessing the PC via SMB. I think I'll revert to 3.17 series and see how things play out.

edit: is there a way to get an older version of a ck package? namely the virtualbox-ck-host-modules for the 3.17.6-1 linux-ck kernel.
edit2: nvm, got it, should have read the first post.

building 3.18.2-1-ck with gcc-4.8.4 definitely improved uptime before panic, but it still continues happening.

@chaonaut and soukyuu - does 3.8.2-2-ARCH give panics?  Are either of you using the broadcom-wl drivers?

yes and yes.
thanks for pointing to broadcom-wl, i was unaware about its issues with recent kernels.
going to try it with debian/ubuntu patches tomorrow.

3.8.2-2-ARCH? And no, no broadcom-wl drivers. You suggested trying the official kernel in testing before, I think I will do that next.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

well, broadcom-wl driver definitely was the problem.
ubuntu/debian patches did not solved it too.
so far, 3.18.2-1-ck with opensource brcmsmac driver working ok (BCM4727).
will give it another try, though in the past i had really horrible issues with it (the damn thing messed up whole wireless network), so switched to broadcom-wl.

Yeah, from what I have been reading, there isn't yet a 100 % fix for the broadcom-wl problem.

Works here:

gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg: unchanged: 1

If it doesn't work, you might need to head over to a keyserver like http://pgp.mit.edu, download the key and import it manually.

Also, don't use sudo when adding the key to YOUR keyring.
