Oh... Thanks.

Removing package-query isn't going to harm anything.
Yup, when in doubt, query the package in question to see if it is a dependency for some other package.
pacman -Qi <package name>Since package-query is listed as a dependency for yaourt and nothing else, I had no problem removing the two prior to upgrading pacman.

I would have thought that the upgrade of pacman to 3.5 would rate a front page "Announcement" message, wouldn't you?

Hmm, I must agree, you're right. I kinda missed that too. If KDE and MySQL deserve such attention, why not pacman?

Perhaps you should then seek out who's in charge of the announcements
. Don't look at the forum mod team, by the way, we don't touch that.

I can't upgrade pacman.
I'm also getting this:
sudo pacman -S pacman
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: perl-xyne-arch: requires pacman<3.5I don't have reflector or perl-xyne-arch on my system though.... ???
EDIT: when trying the sudo pacman command and pressing tab after "perl-" it didn't appear, but if i log in as admin then it appears. I was mislead, i do have it on my system so i'm removing it.
EDIT#2: I had to remove powerpill.

I too, have (actually had) the original issue to this thread, looked it up via our forum, saw what was going on with Xyne...
I decided right then and there, that I liked my powerpill, pacman-color, and yaourt all too much to want to let them go, so I downgraded pacman back to previous version, and put it into IgnorePkg in /etc/pacman.conf, while awaiting what comes next (whatever that is).
I really really wish something could be done with pacman and these just for the meantime so I can have my cake and eat it too, but I guess it's not in the cards.
Xyne, you are missed terribly right now. ![]()

@dedanna1029 - pacman-color and yaourt work fine with pacman 3.5.1. No powerpill though I you could use aria2 in pacman:

Yeah, I know that, but one thing. yaourt isn't working for me right now. I'm getting an as-of-yet-to-be-resolved lexical json error with it.
Aria2 kind of drives me nuts. It sits there with each package, one at a time, and I feel like I'm sitting here forever waiting for it to get each one done like that, and waiting forever for it to find a server for each one, etc. etc. I've gone back to the default, which seems to go faster to me, in pacman:
[options]
# The following paths are commented out with their default values listed.
# If you wish to use different paths, uncomment and update the paths.
#RootDir = /
#DBPath = /var/lib/pacman/
#CacheDir = /var/cache/pacman/pkg/
#LogFile = /var/log/pacman.log
HoldPkg = pacman glibc
# If upgrades are available for these packages they will be asked for first
SyncFirst = pacman
#XferCommand = /usr/bin/wget --passive-ftp -c -O %o %u
#XferCommand = /usr/bin/curl -C - %u > %o
#XferCommand = /usr/bin/aria2c --allow-overwrite=true -c --file-allocation=none --log-level=error \-m2 --max-connection-per-server=2 --max-#file-not-found=5 --min-split-size=5M --no-conf \--remote-time=true --summary-interval=60 -t5 -d / -o %o %u... which gives me just good ol' basic pacman, which is faster for me even than Aria2. If I had a screenie I'd show you the difference; it's huge, both in time and in mode of operation. I'd really rather keep my powerpill, thank you, but got into a deal where I absolutely had to upgrade pacman, lost the works on it. ![]()
I want it back. ;(

@dedanna1029
In case you missed it, you can use powerpill-light to download packages until I find the time to release a full replacement.
