I've sent you an email. It's actually even worse than before, it hangs or crashes after a few minutes of use. I have a backtrace but unfortunately it looks like symbols are stripped, so it's pretty much useless.

Please try resetting gfx.canvas.azure.backends, layers.acceleration.force-enabled and layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled. Also try disabling gfx.xrender.enabled and/or setting layers.use-image-offscreen-surfaces (doesn't exist by default) to true.

Are you using a custom GTK3 theme?

I'll make sure the next build has some usable symbols.

I'm not using a custom theme. I'll try to find out which variable cause the crashes.

Here's the backtrace:

Re: heftig's nightlies: Firefox, Freetype, and more

It looks like it's caused by OMTC (layers.acceleration.force-enabled/layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled), it's not usable with GTK3 unfortunately sad

Re: heftig's nightlies: Firefox, Freetype, and more

Apparently I'm getting other crashes too since the GTK3 switch, which seem to be in the garbage collection code or js::jit every time. These looks similars to the one I had a few months ago before you disabled GTK3. Example:

Re: heftig's nightlies: Firefox, Freetype, and more

Is there any chance you could add the firefox KDE patches?
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/fire … -opensuse/
This allows firefox to use KDE's mime type system, otherwise it mostly open files with the wrong apps when you download something.

You can try firefox-kde-opensuse from Manjaro repository. It works and often is up-to-date. There're archlinuxcn and some more 3rd party repositories with FF-KDE, but with not so actually version.

In Firefox Developer Edition 39, YouTube HTML5 DASH works if you install ffmpeg and enable the following preferences:

  • media.mediasource.enabled

  • media.fragmented-mp4.exposed

  • media.fragmented-mp4.ffmpeg.enabled

  • media.fragmented-mp4.gmp.enabled

Could you please add the patch that is supposed to fix OMTC crashes in GTK3 builds ?

I'd rather wait for it to hit central.

Re: heftig's nightlies: Firefox, Freetype, and more

Since v40 I keep getting all kind of random crashes, the backtrace is different every time. For example:

This reminds me of the previous OMTC crashes I was getting. Does anyone else have the same issue?

Firefox Developer keeps crashing randomly since May, is there any workaround/fix?

Do you have a backtrace?

An answer will be appreciated.

Re: heftig's nightlies: Firefox, Freetype, and more

linux-zen now builds in kdbus. If you have systemd v221, you can add kdbus=1 to the kernel cmdline in order to make use of it.

If you have installed systemd v221 after linux-zen and use systemd in your initcpio, you must regenerate it (mkinitcpio -P) so it contains v221 as well.

Re: heftig's nightlies: Firefox, Freetype, and more

Looks like the gtk3 update from yesterday has seriously broken mouse wheel scroll mouvements in firefox. Now, it randomly scroll too fast or sometimes it even goes up when I'm scrolling down, this is very annoying. Is anyone else experiencing this?

EDIT: Switched back to 3.16.4, fixes the issue.

I can't reproduce, though I only have a touchpad and not a mouse.

Touchpad works well but the scroll wheel does not. It happens on all GTK3 applications, not just this build of firefox.
