Another reason why I am having trouble with my fonts is because of the dependencies. Now, if I want to change everything from ubuntu rendering to infinality there are all of these programs that are connected to the ubuntu packages and I can't seem to get infinality to work properly

Show an error message, at the very least... Don't be so vague.

Re: Font issues

Compile, and install, in this strict order:

pixman freetype2 fontconfig libXft cairo

Re: Font issues

probably you aren't supposed to capitalize the X in libxft

ah thats true... but still... how do replace these packages with packages I want? such as libxft-ubuntu? I tried to remove that package but it is connected to so many applications. So I would have to remove those applications and then install these packages just to get the font packages I want?

Re: Font issues

Try pacman -S fontconfig freetype2 libxft cairo. It should then prompt you to remove the ubuntu packages and replace them with those. Then you should be able to install what you want.

Re: Font issues

ubuntuad.png

This is what my fonts look like in Ubuntu with subpixel smoothing slight hinting with RGB. I am still trying everything to get my fonts to look like that in arch linux. I downloaded the packages for infinality and also the font renderings. I think it maybe because of the libre office package in arch linux. The one in Ubuntu looks great but in arch linux there are several problems with the aesthetics. I also downloaded the uglyfix package for libre office with infinality but nothing works.
