Okay after a couple of days using wicd connection manager my personal problem with disconnection appears to have disappeared and as such would indicate as of 3.5-1-ARCH the kernel problem has vanished and in fact Network Manager was the problem. I attempted to downgrade Network Manager but that lead to numerous problems and I decided to just do away with Network Manager - which is a shame as the mobile telephone tethering used to work great but apparently in wicd 2.0 such features are going to implemented. I hope this helps other people out.
