I recommend to install packages in order, not one big list (like I done in "pandereta"). If you enable verbose mode (to see pacman errors from scriptlets) you can see lots of problems when you do this in one step. The problem is more agressive when you install in one step, some or all base packages plus others, lots of users does in this way and ignore error messages.
For the default qemu/kvm you need x86-video-cirrus. And maybe you want to go beyond 800x600, in this case see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Us … s_for_Xorg
