Re: October 2011 Screenshots

@tlvb: Thanks. I have already try these softwares but they are pretty basic (used to use Orcad and Altium extensively for 4 to 6 layers board). Anyway nice screenshot.

Messing around with a mono setup and ninjaaron's bitocra font
tYXhxNA

@ninjaaron: I like the font: it's readable, small and somewhat clean. I say somewhat because slashes and the '*' in bigger sizes (e.g.: 12) don't look clean, so that'd maybe be something you could improve before 1.0 wink another thing I noticed is that it doesn't make a difference if I write xft:bitocra:pixelsize=12 or  write xft:bitocra:pixelsize=16 or any other size in .Xdefaults the size always stays the same.

Sorry for the delay.

It's conky, this is my whole conky folder (the one you want is conkyrc3 + files that depend on it): http://karabaja.pondi.hr/config/conky/

Hey,

would you mind to give me some information about this setup, e.g. the top and bottom panel, weather (applet) and the log-stuff above the bottom panel? So pretty much everything wink
It looks really great.

Thanks smile

Pretty much all you see is conky, all the configs are available from the link above. Panel is bmpanel2 with this theme (you will find two variations in the folder).

I'll have another look at the slashes and the asterisk.  And yeah, at the moment, it's only in one size.  I'm working on a larger version, but that's post 1.0 stuff.  Thanks for trying it and giving feedback!

Just tweaking the mono-setup and I'm starting to really like bitocra
tYXo0bg

btw: Does anybody have a clue why, except for urxvt & xterm, no application (in particular: dzen2 & angband) reads settings from my .Xdefaults?

the interesting parts:

! dzen stuff

dzen2.foreground: #83A949
dzen2.background: black

dzen2.font: -*-terminus-medium-*-*-*-12-*-*-*-*-*-*

Re: October 2011 Screenshots

I'm thinking you could get rid of the black dead space in the screenshot, too.
I'm not sure if `import' and others accept geometry parameters, but `scrot' apparently doesn't... so I threw together a dirty patch for scrot, so you could do something like this:

ffcast -x 0 % scrot -g %wx%h+%x+%y head_0.png

Here's the ugly patch if you'd like to try: https://gist.github.com/1313489

Ah, screen heads as seperate image? Never really thought about it. import does take geometry parameter, but since ffcast has native support for Xinerama heads, that sounds quite good.

Re: October 2011 Screenshots

Tried Ubuntu 11.10 the other day, and grew a little nostalgic, so I set out to replicate 9.04 in XFCE with Openbox, themed differently of course.  It seems to be a little fat right now.

The -geometry option of `import' seems to have the effect of resizing the screenshot, not specifying the geometry of a selection. But -crop seems to do the job:

ffcast -x 0 % import -window root -crop %wx%h+%x+%y head_0.png

I've also put an example script in the wiki, without using ffcast: Screenshot_of_individual_Xinerama_heads

Re: October 2011 Screenshots

Haven't been around here in a while!

tYXpobQ

I had been using Ubuntu (natty..? whichever one came out in the spring time) for a few months, but just wiped it out and installed Debian stable. This is much better.

The most notable thing, even though it's hiding behind acme in my screenshot, is an mplayer frontend called pymp. I just found it today. My seemingly never ending search for a comfortable and simple way to play music has almost come to an end! I was considering making my own frontend for mplayer - and I probably will eventually, one that is even more simple than pymp - but this will keep me happy for now.

I've seen young people waste their time reading books about sensitive vampires. It's kinda sad. But you say it's not the end of the world... Well, maybe it is!
