Why do Archlinux eats up more battery?

Why do Archlinux eats up more battery, having less memory-usage, than Windows?

Without quantification or other references, this is just idle trolling.

Re: Why do Archlinux eats up more battery?

Inherently, the *nix's were/are server OS's and have lots of logging and disk writes, somewhat addressed on linux by things such as laptop-mode, the bsd's still don't make much sense on laptops.  Apps such as irc and system resource apps such as conky constantly cause wake-ups and are often very prevalent on linux boxes, these don't help the issue either.

It's just the way it is, good configuration of laptop-mode-tools and apps such as acpid is necessary to get battery life on par with Windows.

Read the wiki page on laptop-mode-tools and set it up if you haven't already.
