what laptop do you own?
A Lenovo T420. Arch installed pretty well on it. I"m still doing a bit of configuring, but for the most part everything has worked out of the box.

Fresh install on my "new to me" T400 8gb ram and on an 256gb Crucial m4, little quicker than my old HP DV2550se.
Spectrwm + dzen + conky
Amazing. could you post your configs? (spectrwm.conf, dzen, conkyrc,xdefaults)

I'm jealous of that 1600x900 resolution. Thinkpad x120e here. I wouldn't mind having more battery life / more processing power. I did add an extra 4gb of mem and switched out the wifi card for a intel 6200. Later on I plan on switching to a SSD.

what's the upper panel???
It's simple KDE Plasma panel with five plasmoids: Application Launcher, Plasma Menu Bar, yaWC, System Tray and Launcher. It uses Helium One theme, Droid Sans font and few icons from Elementary icon theme.

Hey! For some reason I feel you have asked this before. It's Sazanami Gothic and you can get it from extra (pacman -S ttf-sazanami). Also here's the whole output how I start my dzen2/conky combo:
