nope, still nothing...
these packages didn't exist in my systems:
expect, gnu-netcat, nx-common, nxserver, xorg-xpr, freenx
exept xorg-xmessage.. which didn't help me resolve the situation..

i found an "illegal" solution, which is to download libxi 1.4 and use it...
but i don't like it at all, the xorg will remain buggy.. kde taskbar won't work right, xbmc won't start...

i think libgl still doesn't work...

If startx works OK but booting straight to KDM doesn't, I can't see you should *need* a different library...

Do you have customised configurations for KDM or a custom startx? Maybe something happens differently in the two cases? Or can you compare the log output in the two cases?

1,with nomodeset,the X will not start

[II][KMS]drm report modesetting isn't support 

2,without nomodeset, the screen will be full of vertical line,can i can't see any thing,the login-window of course

god tell me how i can do for it

i have solved the problem:
install the ati-dri-git instead of ati-dri ,and the x works ok now.

I still cannot find a viable solution to the problem..

I was busy with something so i kind of forgot about this thread..

I read the logs of pacman at my Htpc and saw that what happend during that upgrade was a replacement of gnupg with gnupg2.

I installed back gnupg and my htpc is fully working!

that isn't the case with my laptop.!

Problem is still present, updated consolekit didn't work.

Same blank-screen after kdm login problem.

And am totally out of ideas... One thing I noticed is that pulseaudio is also affected by whatever caused this.

Ok I solved it,

something in udev/consolekit/dbus/dbus-core changed so that the sixad daemon, if startet from within rc.conf somehow results in broken kdm.

sixad is a daemon from the AUR package qtsixa that is used for connecting playstation 3 sixaxis controller via bluetooth. Manualy starting sixad works fine.
