Re: Gnome 3.4 doesn't start

# cd /usr/share/gnome-shell/js/ui/status
# mv network.js network.js.disabled

This workaround works for me, so I do not have to use networkmanager.

Re: Gnome 3.4 doesn't start

Seems like I'm not going to do a pacman -Syu for a while.
Had to roll back to previous nvidia driver and therefore also linux < 3.3 just
a week ago, because gnome crashed on startup.

Well, I have to say it astounds me that this particular problem got past testing into the release.  You would think an issue that stops Gnome from starting altogether would have been caught.

Re: Gnome 3.4 doesn't start

I updated from 3.2 on my laptop and had the same problem.

Solved it with # pacman -Syu gnome-keyring libgnome-keyring libgcrypt libgpg-error gcr

I did a fresh install on a dektop (which is what I`m typing on) and stuff worked out of the box.

gnome-control-center isn`t working on any of them, unfortunately.

Re: Gnome 3.4 doesn't start

As of approximately 6 hours ago, there is a new version of networkmanager in the repositories that includes the patch to fix the gnome-shell crash issue.

https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit … be785a3ddd

I updated the networkmanager package and then removed "networkmanager" from my DAEMONS line in rc.conf.  I am now able to run gnome-shell without having the networkmanager daemon running.  Thanks to the packagers for including this patch!

Hope this helps all those who, like me, would rather not run networkmanager!

Yes, a big thanks and I'm impressed by the reactivity for publishing a patched version !

Re: Gnome 3.4 doesn't start

The gnome-settings-daemon update resolved all my troubles: now it's all right.
