HI tredaelli and all dearl Arch comorades!
Due to recent exposure of Prism/Edward Snowden incident, I'd like to creat my own home email server with secure access. I tried Arch's Wiki Email server post, it's hard to get it through. There's a few nice guides on ubuntu/debian, I followed this specific one https://library.linode.com/email/postfi … 0.19-mysql.
It seemed that I went through well on Arch and service are running. But I still can't get it working. Can you guys kindly hold my hands over with a detailed wiki covering the following,
1. Mysql setup, it seemed fine following above link. No PostfixAdmin for now. Just plain MySql. Testing tips to make sure it's working.
2. Postfix configuration, Testing tips to make sure it's working.
3. Dovecot configuration, Testing tips to make sure it's working.
Once these three start working (I can send/receive email securely via Thunderbird , people can send email to me, I can send email to people), then, I can further enhance it with,
4. web access: roundcube
5. Spam
6. Antivirus.
If you can post this basic setup in section by section with testing of each sections into a wiki, it's even more fantastic. The current ones on Arch Email Server wiki involves Webserver, etc a lot.
By the way, I am on Cable modem with a solid IP. so I can manyge A/MX record to my dynamic domain name.
Thanks

[10:04:21] Time for weekly full server backup.
[10:04:25] Redirecting it to "/dev/null" to make it go faster.
[10:04:53] Backup done! Amazing how fast modern technology is!

@tredaelli, I have found that although I think this is an amazing thing to offer, I don't actually use this email address for anything really. If the deletion of my account might make just one more spot for another who would make use of it, then feel free to do so. I feel like I am needlessly taking up a spot here. (My address is wonderwoofy [at] archlinux [dot] info)

Hm, it seems that the mails I send from my archlinux.info adress don't arrive at their destination; I 've sent mails to several other adresses, none of them has arrived in the past hours… Meanwhile, receiving mails works fine.
Anyone else expecting this issue?

Hi,
I analysed the logs and it seems some mail servers (like gmx) does not like mails sent from a mail server without a DNS PTR.
I asked to the VPS contributor (thanks man ) if he can set up the DNS PTR record

Yeah, I have first hand experience with this. My server was blacklisted for this reason. Of course I fixed it, and got it removed from the blacklist later on.

All right, thanks for the clarification!

The forwarding itself works like a charm, but I find it odd that the "Forward" tab itself only pops up after clicking "Folders". Not a real problem though

Hi tredaelli,
any news from the problem with mail servers like gmx ? I would like to use my archlinux.info, but because of that problem I can't at the moment.
Another problem: I have other email addresses (gmx, gmail) and I tried to send mail to my archlinux.info from them but
I have received nothing in my webmail. I retrieve my mail with pop and after more than 24h hours, some mails were retrieved
from the server. So it needs a very long time to receive the mail and I don't see them in my webmail. Did I forget something or
do you have an idea what is wrong ?
