Re: KDE 3.5 [extra]

no it could be that a reomcpile would link against new functions from kdelibs, it's just a guess i don't know if it would help.

tpowa : recompile of kmplayer doesn't work. I guess we have to wait till kmplayer recongnizes system:/

Nice to see that konqi made it as the first Acid2 complaint browser out there.

Re: KDE 3.5 [extra]

Can someone confirm this so I know I'm not crazy:

Whenever I put kicker in the top-right corner vertically, it eventually locks, takes all remaining cpu cycles, and won't die until you kill -9 it.  The time it takes to lock seems a bit random, taking between 10 seconds and 5 days, although it usually takes about 30 seconds.  Here's the setup:

Re: KDE 3.5 [extra]

Does anyone suffer from the infamous kwin crash bug in 3.5beta? It crashes from time to time here.

Re: KDE 3.5 [extra]

I was pleasantly surprised with this release. The latest stable version was really sluggish and slow on my P3/1GHz machine but this beta is really fast and responsive and a joy to use. After a few days use I can't wait for the stable version.

Re: KDE 3.5 [extra]

I'm having reall memory usage issues with this one it seems - I have 256Mb and 3/4 of that is in use after startup alone - if I try and build anything it goes straight to the swap.  When I start fvwm, fluxbox, etc they use about 1/10th of the RAM and only Azureus breaks into the swap space!

Re: KDE 3.5 [extra]

Hi,

thanks for your kde-3.5 packages, could you please privide a conflict superkaramba in the package that provides it? I already had superkaramba installed so it gave an error while checking for file confilcts.

Re: KDE 3.5 [extra]

bug the superkaramba maintainer with that, me maintains official packages, so the maintainer from community has to take care of that.

Re: KDE 3.5 [extra]

Hi,

I mean maybe you could add something to your package so that it automatic uninstalls superkaramba when I install your package?

I though it was called conficts but maybe there is also deprecates or something?

Thanks,
D

Re: KDE 3.5 [extra]

Hi

Anyone else having problem with kde freezing completely during ordinary use? The problem arose after installing 3.5, and I would guess kwin is to blame. I can move around the mouse pointer, but not move/close/interact with the windows). Keyboard input is not working at all, so my only chance to recover from this freeze is to ssh in from another computer and force-kill X.

Since this could be X / kernel / nvidia / other - related, I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Regards,
Fredrik

Re: KDE 3.5 [extra]

superkaramba is not part of the arch official dev repos, it's probably in community, so i don't take care of that, the community package has to provide this feature, not my official package.

Re: KDE 3.5 [extra]

It worked pretty fine here, but there are two annoyances/bugs I found during the last 4 hours:
1) When dialogboxes which makes sounds appear, the mouse wont move before the sound is done playing
2) If I enable X composite extension, KDE will start fine, but if I then start konqueror or kcontrol I get a problem: the mouse will move, but no events are recieved from the input devices; I can't click, the keyboard won't work... I can't get out of X either with ctrl+alt+f1 or ctrl+alt+backspace. The only working method is a hard reboot, and this happened 3 times in a row so I guess it's not a coinsidence...

I hope they will get fixed! I had version "3.4.92 (beta2, >= 20051010)".

Temporarily I'm thinking about going back to the official 3.4 release.

Re: KDE 3.5 [extra]

I'm reasonably happy with it, as it has cured a few rather serious 3.4.3 annoynaces (like removable drives' automounting and some VFS glitches). Of course there are some bugs (e.g. the "terminal sessions" icon when put on taskbar simply does not work), but for a beta it's very good indeed.
It's still pretty new, so I'll report more problems when I test drive more thoroughly and update my external KDE based applications (krusader, knemo, k3b, kftpgrabber-svn plus few more).
PS: another annoyance is that K3B (the stock one) is unable to erase RW's anymore, unless run as root- other than that it works well. I will recompile it soon against 3.5 and see what happens.

Re: KDE 3.5 [extra]

Thanks for 3.5 RC1!

First impression: great! Amazingly responsive when compared to earlier versions (including 3.5 beta). Too bad I still can't play videos from CD/DVD with a single click with Kmplayer; oh well, I guess I won't die if I manually select "Open with Kaffeine" or change it as default via Control Center.

No, 3.5 isn't released - but there is a release candidate availible.
