1. Do this:
# cd /etc/fonts/conf.d # ln -s ../conf.avail.infinality/10-scale-bitmap-fonts.conf .
2. What does `fc-presets check` say? What is the output of `fc-match sans`, `fc-match serif` and `fc-match mono`?
Sorry for taking so long to reply.
Symlinking that file didn't fix the missing pixels. Here's a screenshot:
The update notification is dunst (ignore the font size) and the bar is dzen2. Notice the cutoff battery symbol. I've even switched to an XFT-enabled version of dzen.

`fc-match ...` all match to the same font, electroharmonix.ttf in my ~/.fonts/TTF directory. This isn't the first or only font in there.

Hey bohoomil,
currently I have some problems with poor font rendering on github (in google chrome). Settings should be the defaults, the rendered font is Droid Sans Mono Slashed. Any ideas?

@Vixus For the start, please set the preset for the font collection you are using (check out `fc-presets help` for details).
@rumpelsepp Not really… This is what I can see in Chromium: GitHub. Did you try running `fc-cache -r`?

I have updated infinality bundle (including some font package updates) and I thought the cache had been built properly. Anyway, fc-cache -r fixed the problem. Thanks!
EDIT: Today it is the same problem! I did not change anything, my computer stayed in suspend this night. fc-cache -r and restarting chrome fixed it again...

When using the free preset, how can I again check which are the current default fonts?
With
$fc-match sans
$fc-match mono
$fc-match serif
etc.

You can delete /etc/fonts/conf.d/75-yes-terminus.conf, it is a symlink, and then upgrade. The/etc/fonts/conf.d/75-yes-terminus.conf is recreated when terminus is updated.

I have a kerning issue with the free font preset in Thunderbird Conversations view.

Can I tweak this somehow?

Since the last update I get strange rendering for capital 'I' on reddit - is this too specific or is someone else encountering this?
Offline
Here it goes. I'm not sure whether the issue is with all capital letters, but it's easier to see with capital Is. Both 'b' and 'd' are taller than 'A' and 'I':

Yep, I'm getting this too. Seems infinality-bundle-multilib.db in the repository has been renamed to infinality-bundle.db, but I don't know if that's intended or not.
EDIT: Seems someone's already put an issue on the GitHub repo. https://github.com/bohoomil/fontconfig- … /issues/23

I'm also getting the same problem. So we should change the name in our pacman.conf or it's going to revert back originally n github repo?

Looks like it's fixed.

You have my thanks . Fixed by deleting it.

@orschiro I'm not sure what font it is: it looks like Droid Sans, which renders fine to me, so a relevant piece of information would be appreciated.
@joaocandre & @earsplit Personally, I cannot see anything disturbing in the screenshot. I presume you meant updating Firefox: there have not been any critical changes to any of the ib's components recently, so I have not idea what else could have such a devastating impact on the site in question…
sic: is crosscore
Really? Let's see: Chromium → Cr + OS + core fonts = croscore-fonts. Looks fine to me.
They are different, obviously. Still, this is not the difference in quality when you put them both in the same context. Of course, you can replace the font with any typeface you like better or just use the original if you prefer a purist approach.
Edit Updated srceenshot as per progandy's font advice.

@bohoomil
Sorry for the confusion. I think it this is actually no issue of infinality but rather of the Thunderbird Conversations extensions. It does some Font tweaking itself which I now disabled in the settings. Now everything looks fine!
