Greetings. I use the Infinality-bundle as font rendering. The font in the terminal is Monaco 14, and the font in xmobar is Meguri P 12.

Sure. Here's my $HOME/.i3/config - I'm using the base16-default colorset (preview, source). Just use those.
My mail client is mutt, take a look at this for configuration.

Re: June 2013 Screenshots

been using i3 for about 2-3 months this is how it looks:
RJ1OpZis.png
direct: http://i.imgur.com/RJ1OpZi.png

workspaces:
0 = music players, 1 = mail readers, 2 = Instant messenger clients, 3 = web browsers, 4 = social networks (web apps), 5 = RSS readers, 6 = terminal emulators, 7 = file managers

as you will see from the config there are some font/icons in there, these are present in many of the "standard" fonts that come with many linux distro's so they should work across many distro's. For those interested I found them initially in "monospace" font within "Private Use Area" (load up character map, select monospace font, then change to "unicode block" then scroll through & you should find "Private Use Area". I have checked many font over the years & these symbols are present in about 50% of the standard fonts after install.
FYI: there are also many social networking logo's contained in the same area

i3 config:

# This file has been auto-generated by i3-config-wizard(1).
# It will not be overwritten, so edit it as you like.
#
# Should you change your keyboard layout somewhen, delete
# this file and re-run i3-config-wizard(1).
