He's just adjusting the split ratio of the window on the fly. For example:

Thanks. The statusbar is on my github if you want to look at it too. And I don't have a userChrome.css I'm working on one but this screenie is just default pentadactyl with my gtk3 theme (dorian).

Thank you. Yes, it is LXDE and sure, here are the themes:

GTK: Zukitwo (requires gtk-engine-murrine)
Openbox: Zukitwo-OB
Icons: Faenza-Dark (obviously they require the standard Faenza set)
LXPanel: solid color #1d1d1d with some transparency
Font: Droid Sans 8

Note that the compositor (compton-git) is running, hence the shadows and overall more polished look.

after a lot of wm's (dwm, awesome, i3, notion, ratpoison, stumpwm, xmonad) the best wm i've ever used: herbstluftwm

Moving back to herbstluftwm and it feels like being home.
