Also, on 11,2 the card reader worked without any setup necessary.

To be noted: Thunderbolt hot-plugging support has been added with 3.17. I yet have to test it, but I thought maybe some of you didn't know.
And no, 3.17 is not out of [testing] yet.

Sweet, it'd be really nice not to have to reboot when I need to plug in my thunderbolt ethernet adapter.

I am having some problems with chrome freezing / hanging, then I have to kill the process and restart it. If music was playing in a tab it continues but the whole browser wont continue updating / rendering.
I have tried normal, beta, dev, and nighly builds of chrome and chromium with and without flash. They all will just freeze / hang eventually, usually it occurs upon opening a link in a new tab.
Does anyone have some insight on this, has anyone experienced this and for example knows a flag in chrome://flags to turn off or on or something?
thanks

I still get terrible iowait. Its very noticeable when launching chrome and booting. I can sit at 90-95% of iowait.

Have you tried the following (admittedly MacBook Air) patch?

3.17 is now out of testing. Broadcom-wl is updated for 3.17, but broadcom-wl-dkms is not( as of right now).
Regarding the Intel Microcode issue, if you are using refind, your /boot/refind_linux.conf should look something like this( or at least this worked for me):
"Boot option name" "root=/dev/sda4 rw splash any_other_kernel_options initrd=boot/intel-ucode.img initrd=boot/initramfs-linux.img
Having just initrd=/*.img (as shown on the wiki, without "boot") throws a "file not found" error and the system becomes unbootable.

Hotplug still doesn't work for me... Does it work out of the box for you, or you need to do something?

It does, but not from hibernate for me. Looks like that will be fixed with 3.18:

Ok, so after upgrading to 3.17.6-1 wireless no longer worked for me(I was using broadcom-wl).

Yeah, doesn't work for me, either.

I am a stupid stupid man. I thought I only had to rebuild broadcom-wl for major kernel upgrades, not also for smaller bumps. Upgraded, rebuilt and it all works like a charm.
Apologies.

No worries. In theory, you shouldn't have to, but it's become a standard thing for me, with regards to the broadcom-wl drivers. I use the dkms package for the drivers, so that I don't have to manually recompile them every time I upgrade the new kernel.

How is the battery life for you guys? I hardly get more than 3 hours out of my rmbp13 with arch.

With all powersaving features turned on (via powertop), and screen brightness no higher than 80%, I can get 4-5 hours out of my MBPr11,2 (15" screen, intel gpu). I could probably get more if I didn't need to have an ssh tunnel, nginx, elasticsearch and redis running on it for my work.

I watched 3.5 hours (5 x 40min) tv episodes yesterday on a single charge (starting from 100%). So it seems like your doing something wrong. I work indoors and have my brightness between 10% and 20% using i3 and a few terminals, that draws about 9 watts, so theoretically i should get 10.5 hours, however due to variations in workload (youtube..) I end up getting between 7-9 hours.
Check what your wattage is:
awk '{print $1*10^-6 " W"}' /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/power_now
and try reduce it, stopping random background tasks can help but most of all lower your brightness.

I get occasional hangs that last anywhere from 20s to a minute or so. There's always an accompanying set of logs from dmesg like the below:
For me
echo max_performance > /sys/class/scsi_host/host0/link_power_management_policy
seems to fix the problem.

@hrod what did you change to lower your power consumption. Did you disable pstates? My CPU is running at full frequency unless I disable turbo and set /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/max_perf_pct to something low

Anyone managed to get the microphone to work ? I'm using the rMBP 11.3, pulseaudio can't find it.

@Kamek Works ootb for me. Just installed pulseaudio and pavucontrol to check
For the battery issue. I've disabled intel pstates. Now I'm getting ~6h on battery (~3h with pstates on). I'm still interested how to improve it further.
