Re: Chromium OS UI ('official' prebuilt snapshot), display manager session

It started working after a restart.

Re: Chromium OS UI ('official' prebuilt snapshot), display manager session

I can't get it to work.

I installed only chromiumos-ui-bin
to use it in combination with i3.
However when I start it from the terminal I get this error:

 ~]$ chromiumos-ui
[0615/225253:FATAL:content_main_runner.cc(735)] Check failed: base::i18n::InitializeICU().
Aborted (core dumped)

I already tried this:

ln -sf /usr/lib/chromium/icudctl.dat /usr/lib/chromiumos-ui

A reboot afterwards didn't help either.

I'm using Arch 64 bit and Chrome 35 with the flashpepper-plugin installed.

Please let me know if you need any further information.
The other packages aren't necessary, are they?

Re: Chromium OS UI ('official' prebuilt snapshot), display manager session

The error is a known issue, which was purportedly fixed, but is actually turning into a cesspool of bug reports, code reverts (of reverts, of reverts, ...) of fixes.
See Google for a blow-by-blow report.
Best is to wait until this stabilizes, hopefully you have a backup of a working package :-)

Unfortunately not.
Wanted to try it for the first time.
Do you have one at hand?

Re: Chromium OS UI ('official' prebuilt snapshot), display manager session

If you don't have a backup, but know the revision number of a working build, you can change the PKGBUILD for chromiumos-ui-bin yourself:

- comment out (by adding a # at the beginning) the line which starts with `_pkgver=$(curl ...`
- add a new line below that which reads `_pkgver=<revision>`, where <revision> is the revision number of the working build

Then build the package as usual, it will fetch that specific revision.

I'm sorry but I haven't got time to search for a revision number for you; you will have to scan the bug reports to find one.
If you do find one, please report it here so I can temporarily 'lock' the PKGBUILD to that revision. I've had to do that before... :-(

Okay no problem. I'm going to try this as soon as I have time.

251217 is the latest one that worked for me.

Unfortunately, it looks like builds for Linux_ChromiumOS have stopped for a while now, while Linux_ChromiumOS_Full continues, but none of the builds there worked for me.

Re: Chromium OS UI ('official' prebuilt snapshot), display manager session

Hi! I just started using Arch because of this project. The school I work at has a few hundred Acer netbooks we would like to try to use like Chromebooks.

I spent the last couple of days installing Arch and the Chromium-ui packages on a T42 Thinkpad and now come to

student@chromebook /$ chromiumos-ui
/usr/bin/chromiumos-ui: line 42: /usr/lib/chromiumos-ui/chrome: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error
/usr/bin/chromiumos-ui: line 42: /usr/lib/chromiumos-ui/chrome: Success

It seems this may be because I am using a 32 bit Pentium M and these packages are only for 64 bit. Is this the case and if so, is there another direction you can point me to get Aura running on Linux on 32 bit hardware? Thank you!

What happened to this idea?

- "I summoned Cthulhu and Satan trying to fix my interxternet. How I'm gonna fix it now??"
- "We can't fix it either"
