From, the log, ATI (catalyst) driver segfaults, no idea why it only happens with GDM and not with startx, sorry. But you are not the only one with this problem:

After upgrading to 3.12, evolution can't retrieve my emails because of:

I know, I've been considering moving to nVidia for ages, but I don't quite have the cash to drop. Maybe next generation of cards.

The open source ati drivers aren't that bad really, and I bet you wouldn't have issues like this with them.

There are some specific issues I've had in the past with the open-source drivers. Namely, certain recent additions to Steam's library flat-out do not work, like Metro: Last Light.

Darn! You know what, something didn't go right when I upgraded my desktop, becuase my laptop looks the same after the upgrade.

However, on my desktop, a bottom panel appeared and now both panels changed from black to gray. There's also an applications and places tab that showed up on the top panel. I use gnome tweak tool extensions, but even uninstalling it doesn't change anything. *sighs*

I'm not sure if it's only AMD/ATI devices causing problems.  I'm on Intel hardware and GDM will not start.  I've installed LightDM out of frustration and now Gnome itself won't start.  Strange yet, I have another computer with AMD devices in it and GDM won't start yet Gnome will start with LightDM, I do not understand it.

From my perspective, it looks like GDM just has problems now.

I started getting this error after updating today. I had to turn off autologin in lxdm (tried lightdm but Evolution still failed on boot if autologin is set). Logging out then in again got mail working. When Evolution gives this error I also notice that Seahorse is missing its "Passwords" section, not just an empty "Passwords", I don't get a clickable "Passwords" to open.

I'm using Xfce4 with enough Gnome to run Evolution so I can't be sure whether problems I see are due to bugs or my hybrid set up.

Similar problem here, I'm using a pure Gnome 3 setup with accounts made from gnome-online-accounts. When the problem happens clicking "Online Accounts" in settings shows an empty grey list.
I saw some goa-daemon core dumps. Deleted all my accounts and added them again, currently running goa-daemon with debug output but the problem hasn't shown up so far.
From your experience it seems like the problem would be in Evolution itself?

I've been using GNOME 3.12 for some days now, and this are the issues I found:
- When using an external display, multimedia and brightness keys don't work, and GNOME says something went wrong and forces me to log out
- I'm using GNOME on a ThinkPad X220 Tablet, and GNOME control center does not display Wacom settings (but it tells me that I need to calibrate the wacom every time I log in).
- I also noticed that when I start rhythmbox, both gnome-shell and rhythmbox consume 100% for 1 minute or so, after which rhythmbox becomes responsive, but uses 320 MB of RAM instead of the 90 MB it used on GNOME 3.10 (I've rebuilt rhythmbox against GNOME 3.12, but nothing changed)

Thanks for letting us test GNOME 3.12 easily smile

I've just upgraded and everything runs smoothly, except for the fact that I use a Wacom tablet and also lost the Wacom settings in Gnome Control Center (anyway the tablet is recognized when plugged and works fine).
Can someone else confirm if the Wacom settings are still there under the Hardware section?

It's really weird, since improving the Wacom settings was one of the (several) things they were into for the 3.12 release.
As can be seen here

Yep, same here. The Wacom tablet works as far as I have tested it, but the settings are gone. There is sime output in the journal from gnome-settings-daemon, so at least it seems to know about it. Not sure if the output below is new in Gnome 3.12 and whether it is related or not:

Apr 16 08:53:56 zoidberg gnome-session[8924]: (gnome-settings-daemon:8973): wacom-plugin-WARNING **: No definition for 'Wacom BambooPT 2FG 4x5 Finger' found in the tablet database. Using a fallback one.

Update: The gnome-control-center was compiled without wacom support, see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=728318 and https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/39895

Re: Gnome 3.12 Beta

These compile without problems here. Is your whole system updated (i.e. glib2 == 2.40.0)?

EDIT: are you really running arch linux? these warnings are patched out in arch. At least your glib2 package seems not to be from the arch repo. If for whatever reason you build it yourself, you need to update it to work with 3.12.

Re: Gnome 3.12 Beta

Does anyone know how to hide the new wired connection indicator icon in the panel?

I use and extension to hide the arrows, and that extension does it like this:

	if (typeof Main.panel.statusArea.appMenu._arrow !== 'undefined')
	{
		Main.panel.statusArea.appMenu._arrow.hide();
	}

would it be possible to replace 'Main.panel.statusArea.appMenu._arrow' with the wired indicator "class"? and if so, does anyone know the name of that "class"? My excuses if this is completely retarded, I don't know much about js.

I also did something similar. I commented the gnome-keyring auto-unlock changes done from https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Gn … at_Startup out and logged in and out which got it working again. Maybe related to gnome-keyring and auto-unlocking. running evolution in lxde
