Does anyone know if the .deb for the full version of Bitwig can be repackaged for Arch using the PKGBUILD in the AUR? How hard would it be to modify? I haven't done anything with PKGBUILDs or the ABS yet, so it may be a fun project. I'm not gonna throw down $400 for the full version unless I know there's a possibility of getting it working, though.

The PKGBUILD for the demo already repackages the debian version. If i read this paragraph right, then you should be able to install the demo and then register your license to get the full version.

BITWIG STUDIO 1.0

Upon downloading Bitwig Studio 1.0, please register with your purchased license to unlock the application. If you have not purchased a license, the application will run in demo mode with saving and exporting disabled.

Re: [SOLVED] Music production in Arch Linux is like... AAARGH!!!

Folks, if there are any distro-specific issues regarding audio production workflow, please file a bug report.

Even though traffic and packaging activity have dwindled over the years the forums and mailing lists over at ArchAudio are still functioning, so if you aren't sure what's up or you want an Arch-specific discussion medium for all things audio and music production you've got it all right there. [1][2] You can also find me and others on IRC at #archaudio.

I encourage anyone to add to the wiki [3] or create a new page there to suit your niche. The solution here is a fine candidate to put in writing. FYI, Arch has been used in professional studio settings. Dave Phillips and Geoff Beasly can attest to that. [4]

I need real, proper pen and paper for this.
