Well I don't think it's heat; I added two case fans and it's still happening :cry: . I saw on the Gentoo forums that LG drives had problems with Linux. My CD-RW just happens to be an LG drive. Could that cause it? If not, then I think it must be my hard drive...

I used it at some point in time, and AFAIR it had hard drive tests unlike memtest86 and cpuburn. Of course, you could run cpuburn which parameters that would eat up lots of swap, then you get some hard drive test as well.
