Ok, you need to configure your raid array in /etc/mkinitramfs.conf as well, generate a new initramfs, and it should work good

Sigi, about your problem with vga= parameter: which fb driver are you using? You should use the vga= parameter only with the standard vesafb (the radeonfb fix does not change anything there and anyway is activated only with the specific boot parameter I mentioned in my previous post). If on the contrary you use vesafb-tng (included in the archck patchset), radeonfb or any other hardware specific fb driver, you should use the vbe parameters. E.g.: video=vesafb:1024x768-16@80
video=radeonfb:1280x1024-24@60
Adjust consistently with your fb driver and the desired resolution, depth and frequency.

patroclo7: As stated in a former post it now works with video=vesafb:1024x768-60. If I specify a default depth it doesn't work anymore so I leave it that way. Maybe I'll try radeonfb later... ;-)

I just installed the new patches today after running with the standard Arch Kernel and I have to say, amazing difference! I very much appreciate how the sound is faster and everything feels far more responsive.. great work!
(Ok, I think that's my limit of exclaimation marks for this post.)
I'm not sure if I have the fbsplash set up right though because although it goes into silent mode it doesn't display any sort of "loading" screen, it just goes from "Booting" to X when it starts up. Any hints on this?
Thanks, and keep up the good work.

I get an "FATAL: Error inserting powernow_k8. (/lib/modules/blah...blah..). No such device." during bootup. I have powernow_k8 listed on my rc.conf modules line.

Btw, it's a turion64 and cpufreq worked perfectly with archck-2.6.14 and the stock 2.6.15 kernel

Did you include a them in /etc/mkinitramfs.conf? Did you do everything here? The only change to that page for archck is that you now use initramfs-2.6.15-archck.img for your initrd, and not fbsplash-<theme_name>-<screen_res>.

pacman should NEVER straight replace a critical file - if it has you have a poorly configured setup. pacman NEVER patches anything - get a clue
hmmm that's kinda weird then, well I am 100% sure that it has replaced my rc.conf and moved the old one to rc.conf.pacsave, i am 100% positive because just looking at both files when i installed, i could just know from timezone and keymap vars that its not mine, so i've had to mv switch files back and then add what is important in rc.conf coming from this packages into mine
I don't know why u mention poorly configured but ASAIK i didn't touch (didn't dig into) yet any conf file related to makepkg and/or pacman except that i've enabled community and i'm positive about having etc/rc.conf in noupgrade list of pacman (btw why its etc/ and not /etc/ ? )[options] LogFile = /var/log/pacman.log NoUpgrade = etc/passwd etc/group etc/shadow etc/sudoers NoUpgrade = etc/fstab etc/raidtab etc/ld.so.conf NoUpgrade = etc/rc.conf etc/rc.local NoUpgrade = etc/modprobe.conf etc/modules.conf NoUpgrade = etc/lilo.conf boot/grub/menu.lst HoldPkg = pacman glibc
:oops: apologies - I thought by replaced you meant overwrote irrecoverably - that replacement will happen when you upgrade ANY initscripts pkg.

The usb audio device indicates it is connected and the hub channel is energized for the device.
Typically, it blinks a LED indicating audio interface active which is not occuring.

The newest version of archck kernel doesn't like my vga=0x318 or vga=773 kernel boot parameter anymore. It says "You specified an undefined resolution" or something similiar. Could this be because of the radeonfb-patch? Any ideas?
Greez Sigi
I have the same problem. All of a sudden it's impossible for me to set 1280x1024 resolution.
I have tried vesafb:1280x1024-32@60 (and other combinations), radeonfb...
I even tried 1280x1024-60 like you said you did, Sigi. I dunno how you thought of that, but it didn't work for me anyway.
It's like the new archck vesafb has problems supporting my Mobility x700. No matter what settings I use (besides vga=7** returning the above error) they are ignored and the basic resolution is started (640x480?). Then my fbsplash theme is loaded for 1280x1024 and I get awful graphical corruption until GDM starts, then everything is ok.
Quitting X-server to return to the console gives me a blank screen. I can guess and login and startx and everything is fine, so it isn't frozen.
Any ideas?

vga=* will not work, use video=
look at earlier page i have already answered same question though am not sure about 1280x1024 resolution

Amazing work, iph - nice one. I knew you'd do me proud. Can some give me some feedback on how gensplash/fbsplash goes with the initramfs - is performance identical to fbsplash WITHOUT an initramfs? I guess it is because fbsplash uses a psuedo initramfs anyway
Basically I'd like to hear how great it works and whether the initscripts-gensplash pkg needs any changes
DTW the script works perfectly......
on a side note if anyone is having problems and already has kde installed, you can add the option kdgraphics to the video line e.g....
video=vesafb:plash=silent,quiet,kdgraphics,theme:darch,1024x768-16@70

@mpie: Well it didn't work for me when i use silent instead of verbose nothing would be displayed only original boot progress but on 1024x768 resolution, on verbose i get a background (which is normal i guess) but its not the case on silent, I have installed initscripts-gensplash though
[wael@nasreddine ~]$ pacman -Q initscripts-gensplash
initscripts-gensplash 0.9.9.2-15
