Btw, I just wanted to let ye' all know that
video=vesafb:ywrap,mtrr,1024x768-32@70
on 2.6.15-kernels defaults to mtrr:0 (disabled) or put in other words equal to nomtrr
on 2.6.14.5 & prior it defaulted to mtrr:3 (write-combining).
so, if you're seeing 'flickers' on 2.6.15-kernels ... ye' have to explictily set it to mtrr:3 (to counter somewhat the cons. of enableing 'ywrap') :-)

In the first post, there's an error in the lilo.conf example. The line:
options="video=vesafb:ywrap,mtrr,1280x1024-32@60 splash=silent,theme:darch quiet console=tty1"
should be replaced by:
append="video=vesafb:ywrap,mtrr,1280x1024-32@60 splash=silent,theme:darch quiet console=tty1"

Not without editing the PKGBUILD, no. However the editing would simply consist of removing everything after the patch command.

new package compiled and uploaded, will be in repos and mirrors soon.
Should fix ram filling and cpu usage issues which have been noticed. It may run a little bit better too

Also should be fixed are some of the ATI issues that have been seen, as I have uploaded a new ATI package too.
Give this a shot too: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … highlight=

Is DSDT setting in /etc/mkinitramfs.conf working for archck kernel?
I added
DSDT=/boot/DSDT.aml to the mkinitramfs.conf
I did mkinitramfs --show auto
changed grub menu to appropriate initramfs and I still get
"ACPI: Looking for DSDT in initrd... not found." in dmesg
Offline
iphitus thought i should draw your attention to this
archck has not the uevent patches from testing kernel i guess that new udev needs.
. You can get the history from http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=18540&start=15

vlado, the next release of ArchCK will have hopefully fixed the initramfs + dsdt setup.
napoleon, ArchCK is compiled for current, not testing. I will take a look and see what I can do. If the packages dont break current, I will most likely include them next release.

ah !!
Archck is so cool 8)
One little thing: the extra-version was not up to date in archck 3.2
Offline
I reuploaded it about 10 minutes later with a correct extraversion.

so archck is perfect now thanks a lot !

Anyone running this with the testing repo enabled? I'm just having a play (don't usually use testing) and I'm trying to figure out if USB not working is a problem thats my fault or a compatibility problem
Offline
The testing repo.... and now current, needs the uevent patch which is in the 2.6.15-archck3.2 release which I uploaded yesterday. It's available on the main Arch server now, and should propagate to the mirrors though the day.

I'm using ArchCK kernel from community. It's a problem with the kernel but I seem to be the only person getting it so I don't know why. I'm getting this in my everything.log. My next course of action is to build it from source myself so I'll see how I go...

what version?
try updating to 2.6.15-archck3.2 if you havnt already.

I have updated. That's after a pacman -Syu with testing enabled just before lunch. I just finished building a new one so I'll reboot with that and see how I go, probably should have not updated to testing until I tried the new kernel on current so I could pinpoint where problems were better Oh well.
EDIT: well that did the trick, all works fine now :?

EDIT 4: Ran pacman -S kernel26 to re-install kernel.
Ran /sbin/lilo -v
Received correct bootloader info display.
Solution to the error seems to be a re-install of the kernel.

Now, I desire to re-install kernel26-2.6.15-archck3.2-1 and check the result.
Will give it a go.....

EDIT 5: Re-install of archck, edit lilo.conf, run /sbin/lilo -v and all is restored...reboot and am in archck 3.2-1 now.

if I boot with the new made initramfs26.img I get a kernel panic.
I must use an older initrd-2.6.15-archck.img.
Why? ooh and no cd or dvd roms are available..

I had the same problem. It was cause because my initramfs26.img was missing my filesystem module.
Try runing:
mkinitramfs auto --show
It will show you what modules it has loaded in to the image, so you can see if it's missing anything.
Offline
well ..I guess its building it with ALL modules, cause I can see them all.
But still kernel panic.
Update:
I´ve build it with mkinitramfs full.
Now no more kernel panic and my cdroms are back.
Ok..Now I have even more modules loaded, that I don´t need, but it is at least working.
