Probably will be an upgraded single server than originally thought, with the rest of the money saved for maintenance and later upgrades.

Invest the rest of the money at the stock market! Buy microsoft or red hat papers.

Or wait for next big lottery

No, invest at the stock market + pay each archlinux user a dividend each year. Will raise arch in distribution lists over night, I guess . ... I am in doubt if I would like such a hype ... well, pay a dividend to the users that joined on 01 Dec 2003 would be enough.

Hi,
you guys are really great! I am amazed about all these donations. Some days ago someone told on IRC "I would even spend money to get them having a working server". I thought the same.
This is another sign of how strong this (small?) community is. Great!
I have neither Paypal nor Credit Card ... If this is still up some days later, I will use a friend's Credit Card. So keep it up and use it for further maintainance / upgrades!

Feels good to be an "Archer"!!!

I can add so little, as I am a coding and packaging dyslexic. So donating here and then is my contribution, next to behaving unkind from time to time and beeing blamed as a butthead. Ah. not to forget, ruining my arch setup while trapping in scsi related bugs and reporting about it .

191% Is that right? Does that mean we get two servers?

As long as I can remember they have always had a donation option, it just was never at the top of the main page and so attention-grabbing like it is now (ie. the fancy graph now over it's qouta). So have no fear, you can still give money down the road

+$30 from me
if it reaches 300% do we get 3 servers? Or would we get premium high bandwidth hosting services?

Now, all the extra money should be used to buy all the devs and major contributors a lifelong supply of ... noodles! Yay!
Noodles for the community!

Just as long as it's not Raman. That stuff is garbage! I used to live on that crap when I was in college.

I'd like to see some of the money go into an AMD64 machine for Judd so we can have the original arch developer hacking on the next generation Arch64.

This is awesome - if the Arch devs ever wondered how much people value Arch Linux here's the answer for them!
I really hope that an injection like this can really help Jud and the others do some awesome stuff and really make them feel valued! It's great to see all these users coming together and I really doubt that progress like we've see could have happened in many other projects out there.

With progress like this, maybe it's time to start thinking about the first ever, Archlinux "Cluster".

Don't make me unemployed
Beside that I'd love to see official devs coding and supporting 64bit architecture
Offline
A 64-bit machine is on my personal wishlist, but I don't think I'll be buying it with the Arch donations. I'll try to fund that baby out of my own pocket instead.
Offline
Judd, you should maybe edit that post to include a huge thank you for the show of support you've had in this very short donation drive. In addition, Jason tells me you guys'll probably be putting the cash towards beer. Finally, I personally think you deserve a little gift from the community, go ahead and buy yourself a sparkling new 64 bit processor, friend, you deserve it. Anybody here dare to disagree?
