I am currently unable to watch HTML5 videos in Firefox because of some issues with VA-API and also had - before I uninstalled it - frequent crashes with Flash, when using hardware acceleration.
Firefox instantly crashes when I open any hardware accelerated HTML5 (therefore h.264) video.
Here's what Firefox prints out when started from the console:

It doesn't matter if I use xvba-video or libva-xvba-driver
I currently have some general issues with Catalyst like really low FPS in games too

I have this too. Green background when gst-vaapi is installed. Totem is also affected. VAAPI itself works fine in mplayer and vlc. First generation Core i7 here with Intel HD Video. Has been like this for months now...

Same problem here... And in this thread some experience the same behavior: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 1#p1480991
Edit: Package name is now gstreamer-vaapi
