Hello folks. In new here.
I've been lurking the forums for a while before I try installing Arch on a UX32L.
I currently run Ubuntu 15.04 and have never experienced suspend problems. This issue is the single thing backing me off from Arch ATM..
I don't think it's a distro issue. I've been having this issue ever since I got my UX301LA and I'm running Debian.
I think it's a BIOS issue since it got worse when I updated to 209 and also the fact that when it happens my LED is blinking as if the laptop is suspended. In other words, the suspend logic is complete but something didn't quite happen correctly.
It also seems to happen when I use USB devices. It might be my imagination but I think that if I do not plug any USB devices since the last cold reboot then it suspends just fine.
Anyway, just figured out how to revert to the older BIOS version so I'll give it few days to see if anything improves.

I might say this problem is really beyond my understanding and the scope of the regular kernel problem. I had an issue with my UX303LN : it did probably overheat and I couldn't restart it or even charge the battery. After a process asked by the hotline and a while (1/2 weeks after the process in fact), it did work again. And moreover, I don't have the issue anymore.
Could it be an older kernel that could have let the bios/machine in a dirty state. Does someone want to go for the process to confirm/infirm my hypothesis ?

I am running Ubuntu 15.04 on UX32LN with the stock kernel and had the same issues since 14.10. I disabled the 'Power Off Energy Saving' BIOS setting (see BIOS pic: https://tinyurl.com/BIOSEnergySaving) and removed laptop-mode-tools package from the system. I didn't have any issues since yesterday but usually they occurred after daily usage or heavy load on the system. I did have the BIOS setting turned on even before these problems started to appear so I suspect that laptop-mode-tools has something to do with it, but let's see. I am going to test that for a longer period of time and post an update later.

Yeah, I turned the "power off energy saving" off as well and adjusted tlp to not do any power setting changes to the SATA and WiFi modules but no dice - it's still happening.
Also re-loaded and reset the BIOS several times so I think I've ruled a corrupted BIOS out.
So the laptop is off to eBay and I'm playing with my new X1 carbon. Feels soooo much better than the crappy metal and glass of the ASUS.

I had the same problem. It only occurs when you use an old kernel (older than 4.0) or if you use laptop-mode-tools or tlp.
If you use tlp you have to set "RUNTIME_PM_ON_BAT=on" and the problem is gone. I enabled 'Power Off Energy Saving' in BIOS and that is no problem. So I think it doesn't matter. Just change the tlp config file. I don't know how to change this option in laptop-mode-tools because I don't use it.

So far, so good. Tested the system under load for a few days and didn't have any problems with suspending. At least now I know that laptop-mode-tools package is a problem for UX32LN.

This helped out.
