^ I've set
CleanMethod = KeepCurrentin pacman.conf, now it keeps the latest version of the package in cache instead of only the currently installed ones. You will still have to remove any packages you don't use anymore by hand, but otherwise it's automatic.
Does that still work with packages that are sharing the network cache? Having both KeepCurrent & KeepInstalled might be the safest. I usually keep my AUR packages stored in there also.

I'm using the same setup as you. The difference is that KeepCurrent keeps the latest version of each package you have in your pkgcache, no matter if it's installed or not. KeepInstalled keeps the latest version of each package you have installed on the machine you are running the command from. So result for pacman -Sc with KeepCurrent set is machine independent.

It doesn't affect different architectures either?

If you have different architectures, you can't share the cache anyway, so it probably does not - I am not sure though.

Sounds like I just have to do it manually then like I have been doing (just to be on the safe side).
