Hello,
I had everything working well until the latest firmware update from Apple.
Now at boot I receive following error and none of the function of the Integrated card are working (backlight, sensors, ....)
If I try to boot with the iGPU active I end up with a frozen screen. I reproduced it also with an arch install media.

Any idea how I can investigate this?
Error is present with Apple EFI boot and rEFInd boot. Also tried different kernels but same results. I reset the NVRAM, reinstalled arch boot loader, rEFInd the error is still present.
If I look at the changelog of apple, there are a lot of security patches for the video card and kernel in the firmware. (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207615)
Macbook Pro 2015 Retina 15 of course.
EDIT:
With lts kernel error does not appear anymore 4.9.18. any 4.10.x tried (4,5,6) still produces the error.
iGPU is still not available :
https://egpu.io/forums/mac-setup/how-to … boot-camp/
The new firmware implementation blocks the use of the iGPU, above thread seems to provide a solution in replacement of rEFInd and apple_set_os.efi
EDIT2:
Applied above apple_set_os.efi (created a new entry in boot loader for it)
Then:
start with apple_set_os.efi loader
Load default arch entry
iGPU and dGPU are now present and can be used as before.
Error disappeared from 4.10.x kernels also with this fix.
Hope this helps.

Hi guys,
I'm new to Arch and just installed Arch along side with macOS. About the high cpu temps problem, bumping up fan speed works, but I think it's just a workaround. I'm guessing it's because the intel integrated graphic card is not enabled, only the discrete is.
Run
lspci | grep VGA
and it only returns
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Venus XT [Radeon HD 8870M / R9 M270X/M370X] (rev 83)
So I've been trying to switch to the intel card, but I haven't found the solution yet, and I would love to know how. Has anyone gotten around it?

Before latest firmware update rEFInd was working just fine for the iGPU, since 10.12.4 you have to use the procedure I described above.
For the temps, a macbook is always warmer then a normal laptop (65 ° C is quite low above 80° C starts to be hot), but some adjustment must be made, so that it does not get too hot and use to much power.

Hi,
I posted a thread for my question here and wanted to get some more exposure on it: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=227591
Basically, I am using the brcmfmac driver for my Wifi card but on boot I am getting some errors from dmesg. I have tried b43 and broadcom-wl-dkms as alternate drivers but I didn't have any success with them.
If anyone could give me some pointers that would be amazing.

Hello,
brcmfmac work fines with this card.
You can ignore these messages, they are harmless.
brcmfmac 0000:03:0.0: Direct firmware load for brcm/brcmfmac43602-pcie.txt failed with error -2
brcmfmac: brcmf_c_preinit_dcmds: Firmware version = w10; Nov 10 2015 06:38:10 version 7.35.177.61 (r598657) FWID 01-ea662a8c
This one can be resolved by installing package "crda" and uncommenting your country code.
brcmf_cfg80211_reg_notifier: not a ISO3166 code (0x30 0x30)
That you don't see the interface in ip link is not normal, as it is picked up automatically already from the live media.
Can you uninstall all the other drivers you have installed and remove any reference to them in "/etc/modules-load.d/" if any.
If after reboot it is still not detected properly you can use:
modprobe brcmfmac

I have a 2015 13" Macbook Pro, and am using linux-macbook. When I suspend, resume, plug in my charger, and suspend, it resumes with the lid closed after a few seconds. I've also noticed you can get the laptop to resume by plugging in the charger with the laptop suspended. It's really is strange, for over a year now I've never found any kernel / settings combination that completely resolves this.

Has anyone worked around the huge power consumption issue by the keyboard/touchpad? I'm getting a 10W usage from it -- out of 13W total the entire laptop uses.

I have exactly the same behavior with the same mac. I had to write a simple script which polls every second whether the LID is closed, and if so, gets the laptop to sleep.

Hi there! Did anybody notice that sleep mode became broken after recent kernel updates? I've installed Arch on my macbook from about a year ago and it worked out of the box, and about a month ago something happened. Now I can't woke it up after opening my LID. I have to power it off and on again. Where should I start debugging it and what might have broke this feature?

This is a questions for the MBPr 11,5 - Intel / AMD GPU version. I have the ability to switch from the AMD GPU to the Intel video fine with gpu-switch, refind and apple_set_os.efi setup. I then reboot to the intel video fine and apply the echo vgaswitcheroo....... command to shut off the AMD gpu. That is all fine. Now, my problem, how are you guys with the dual video setup switching back to the AMD gpu from the intel video? I use the gpu-switch -d command and reboot to a black screen. To get the system back, I have to login to a terminal and delete the 20-intel.conf file in order to boot to the AMD gpu. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is this still a problem? It was like that for me, but I haven't experienced it in a long time already.

I have the same thing. Did you solve it somehow? I've noticed that keyboard not always consumes that much power, but I failed to figure out an actual pattern

Nope, sorry, I never to around to fixing it, and now use a Razer Blade Stealth, so won't be able to help with that.
