Re: August 2015 Screenshots Thread

Ditched E + Terminology for Fluxbox + Compton + SpaceFM + Conky + Guake a few days ago. Theme is trans_waita WM style + Adwaita GTK + Elementary icons and cursors. .conkyrc is an adaptation of the one I used back when I was on Archbang. Wallpaper is a chalk lightningstorm scene I drew a few months ago on cardboard gathered from an empty crackerbox.

Re: August 2015 Screenshots Thread

How much do you actually need from your desktop? I suppose I am the most boring person in this thread. As seen I like simplicity.:

Compiz as a standalone WM, Emerald with some minimal borders and a simple conky to add some interest and useful info and a box-menu as app starter (I actually do run a terminal at login from .compiz-session script). Wallpaper "Emptiness" by Jaakko Moilanen.

"Clean":

"Dirty"
Some windows opened - usually I don't have many windows opened. I run emacs (mostly) in terminal, almost never have need for a file manager, I play music from within emacs, and beside terminal which usually is in full-screen, I suppose I will have to run Firefox until Emacs can render web properly :-):

I use compiz with a lot of shortcuts, with grid enabled to get a "semi-tiling" behavior. I do like to occasionally see a drop shadow here and there or some nice transparency, but generally I am looking mostly of my time into either emacs of firefox, so too much eye candy is overkill anyway.

Desktop menu is used rather "just in case" if I close terminal by accident and to save some typing here and there. I don't like that box-menu uses gnome-theme for its skin, but I don't have anything else and don't feel for investing time in research at the moment either. I am using it so rarely anyway.
