We'll have no pre-emptive strikes here! Let's hope something constructive occurs...

Constructive: I say we *construct* a barrier of raincoats and umbrellas, to reduce the effect of being pissed on... we can deal with the smell, it is the getting wet that is untenable.

Re: is Arch falling behind?

I do want to say one thing here:

soloport wrote:

1a) Instead of: Hey, I've written a few scripts to help with the "build unique ISO" scripts that Spider.007 wrote.  Anyone interested?

1b) I should have said: What's up with Arch?!  How lame is it to have to *wait* for the next ISO for so f***ing long?!  Is Arch falling behind?!!

Those are two entirely different statements.  The first one implies, at least to me, "I don't like Y, so I did this and now I'm happy", yet with the second statements, it seems like you meant the first to be "I don't like Y, this is the best I can do and it sucks, fix your crap".

When someone pisses on Arch, the first response should simply be: "How have you contribnuted to help solve the issue you're having?"  And then lock the thread!

because the best response to criticism is to not listen...

some people may not have the technical skills to contribute.  this is a recurring issue in the OSS world, someone comes along and makes a suggestion or complaint an the response is "well if you haven't contributed, f*ck off!".  not very friendly, not going to get us anywhere.

Very valid point...  I just find it fascinating that: 1) Disaster gets more news coverage; 2) "Terrorists!" gets move votes; 3) An alarmist's "falling behind?!" gets such incredible response; etc.

In fact, my little rant probably has provoked more replies than I've gotten in a month!  tongue  Woohoo!

Here's to sensationalism!  [grabs another beer] 8)

Re: is Arch falling behind?

well I guess I didn't have to lock it, but I certainly feel its going for the brainless. If it wasn't for the fact I have to moderate flamewars I'd never read anything over two pages its a certain indication of useless thread.

there's some attraction in the human race to disaster.  we seem to enjoy seeing a train wreck from a safe distance.

Re: is Arch falling behind?

I think now are most packages back up to date and updates are coming straight into the stable repos. That's how I like it smile

Who knows why there was a lack of updates in the last weeks. Those few major updates(kde, gnome, kernel) should not affect all other packages. I wish next time other developers keep their good work running.

AndyRTR, who has now a lot to port tongue

Re: is Arch falling behind?

Arch has fallen behind. It should work on quantum processors. It's pointless to use such an archaic distro such as this.
